Bin Laden was being hidden in Pakistan by their top military brass. That's why he was harder to capture. U.S. intelligence still had a good idea about his whereabouts.

we would have been captured him, if the Pakistanis allowed us to move larger units within their country

same thing happened with Laos and other neighboring countries during the Vietnam war. we weren't allowed to move units/conduct cross border ops, but small groups routinely did when it was necessary, since it was a haven for north Vietnamese forces

Second bomber is surrounded as it is being reported. Dayum this is like a movie being played out. Hollywood will definately make a movie on this one. We can be assured that all the "dark skinned" men in Boston can now breath a sigh of relief.

Well they did a poor job of training him, the dummy never heard of FLIR.

escape and evasion was lacking too

maybe this was like their virgin mission..see if these newbs could be trusted with going through with a bombing, before they got deeper/more trained

to be honest tho..our technology is so sophisticated that no matter how well these guys are trained, they come up short in 100% counter measure

there's always a gap somewhere and no one is untouchable

No one is untouchable, but it really seemed like amateur hour. There is certainly a reason that the more sophisticated terrorists have a strong scientific or technical background. They have enough sense to at least respect the capability of technology. With that said, I am glad they caught the fool alive even though it is unlikley that he has a very sophisticated mentor.

Completely different, though you are right to question any of the narrative associated with bin laden.

comparing bin laden to these fools is like comparing Ray Lewis to Brian Bosworth

it's one thing to be digging for someone a CIA/US trained militant in potentially hostile territory, where anyone could put a bullet in your head and an entirely different situation when looking for some facebook noobs, where every block has a camera and cooperative civilians
