I am sure that Mark Wahlberg is not a racist now. I remember seeing some behind the scenes clips from Boogey Nights. He was very focused and professional. Does his past reflect his present? I don't think so. He had changed from what he was when he was a kid and when he was famous in the beginning. I don't think that this is an issue for any of us to deal with. It should be between Wahlberg and those who suffered from his actions in the past(one of them lost their sight). I am sure Wahlberg remembers those events, too and he is aware that what he had done was very wrong. And if he was a racist, would he act in films like Boogey Nights, Four Brothers, Planet Of The Apes, 2 Guns(he and Denzel Washington improvised the dialogue between them) and others?

Do you have proof that Mark Wahlberg is still committing racist acts now? Everyone needs forgiveness even if they don't ask for it. Other than that, it is a matter between them and God. When I was robbed at gunpoint by 5 black kids in 1992, I didn't think about forgiveness. I wanted those kids who robbed and scarred me punished. If not by the law, then by their own actions. They were either doing time in prison, dead or leading different lives. I didn't get justice and they got away with it. Wahlberg did time and turned his life around with a successful acting career. Ice-T was a pimp and a drug dealer before making it as a rapper, actor and lecturer. He has been forgiven. I think Wahlberg should be forgiven and he has to realize this for himself. If his appeal for a pardon is denied, then his record stays in the public. If it is granted, he has a friend in court.
i didnt say still. i never said he was or wasnt. you were putting out the movies he made with blacks and infer that because he has he must not be. i say just because he worked with blacks in his movies doesnt mean hes cool. as in the video...bm thought he was cool with that dude cause they rode in the car together and everything and he said some foul shit
i get what u are saying. also why should his record should be expunged? he robbed and blinded a dude....he still made millions. any other guy from the block on the other hand also he only did about 2months
I don't know Mark Wahlberg personally, but he doesn't give off that vibe like he's got racial problems. He's from a racially segregated part of Boston and had Black AND White dudes he was down with in his wannabe thug phase as a teen. However once he served his time in juvenile detention my impression was Mark Wahlberg grew up FAST and made a conscious decision he didn't want to live that life anymore. The man has had a lifetime of experience as an actor in Hollywood, I really have a hard time believing he's still that young, ignorant punk he was growing up Boston. People are allowed evolve. I know plenty of Black folk who had negative assumptions about ALL White people they swore to be true, until they had a chance to get know some real-life White people.:smt103 Let's be real about it, having a successful older brother featured in New Kids on The Block gave Mark access and opportunities in entertainment to carve out a career for himself most of us would never have, without which Mark might have ended up back on the streets. I don't know why the writer of the article is so upset that Mark Wahlberg wants his juvenile record expunged. I would too. But it's less about Mark Wahlberg being White and more about him being rich and famous that makes that even possible. Most juvenile records are sealed anyway, Black or White, and can't be opened without a court order. I'm curious as to why it's such an issue for him. Wahlberg did that foul shit, OWN it.
He's trying to open up some restaraunt chain and you for some reason to do so you need a clean record. Its some really weird shit, that's how this all came out.
True he could have evolved mentally and is no longer racist. However, his sudden need to leave his past behind doesn't come from a crisis of conscience or his nagging guilt. He only wants to clear his record because his felonious past is hindering his business opportunities. So i'm not sure he should get a pass on his past behavior just yet.
So set up a shell investment group and let a proxy open up the chain for you. This doesn't seem like a huge legal hurdle for Marky Mark.:smt017
from gorath until now...i have all the same opinions. everyone should have a 2nd chance but is this really about him feeling bad about what he did?
Why don't you just leave Mark Wahlberg alone? Let him and others who are, like everyone else, works in progress find their way. Let them change without pressure. A second opposing viewpoint is useless unless you have seen these actions first hand.
how am i hurting wahlberg? im not holding him from expunging his record. everyone should question why he is really getting this expungement. its about rite and wrong. also...whats the big picture about him getting an expunged record? no one is saying someone should not have a 2nd chance. he got that....million dollars worth.
Go to Boston or Hollywood and go ask him yourself. Or better yet, contact the District Attorney's office in Boston. State your concerns. Good luck.
actually the DA told him to fuck off. if u go back and read....i didnt totally disagree with u. i dont think he should get his record expunged he blinded a guy. that guy have to live with that.he harrased people with a gun . in both instances he screamed racial slurs. they have to live with that. theres forgiveness but that doesnt mean u shouldnt be punished
Dude wants a pardon, an Oscar and a liquor license. I'd like to see you or I have a felony assault on our records and get that shit expunged. But, to be fair, he did not blind that guy. The man was blinded in one eye previously when he fought in Vietnam against the Comunists. He just knocked him good. Actually, I would not have a problem with it had he actually gone to the people he's harmed and apologized well before he knew he needed to get his record cleared to expand his buisness. Now it seems more like a financial decision than one from the heart.
