    Um...ok. ???

I'm going to take a guess here (I couldn't get the video to play for some reason), but I think he meant he'd never had mac & cheese as part of a Christmas or Thanksgiving meal. I never did either growing up, although my mother's mac & cheese was quite the hit at church potluck dinners. We just never ate it for a holiday meal, nor did anyone else I know. However, it is a staple holiday dish for my ex bf.

And this is news worthy of media print?

Thanksgiving just past and I'm sure for the thousands that ate or were fed, thousands more wouldn't argue about the origins of anything edible as they still went hungry and wouldn't question where the meal originated if they were able to eat...

On the other hand, with diabetes and cholesterol killing all us off in record numbers, one has to wonder what value Pat's comments have on the overall effects of human life...

The last time I checked, mac and cheese didn't select its consumer and force itself down a black or white throat... And given a choice of starving or pigging out on mac n cheese, there's no question... Bring it on, regardless of the day, especially if I'm starving...

I don't mean to make light of a more serious issue but Pat would have impressed me more if he had tackled the arsenic in fruit juices or established a farm for growing organic foods using some of the millions in donations from his organization's vast wealth...

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day... Teach a man to fish and he'll eat until there are no more fish..."

Just my cynic side coming out....:smt042

the part of the article that says it best...

"A confused Robertson, who grew up in Lexington, Virginia, acted like he had never heard of the culinary dish, a popular American staple for generations and absent-mindedly singled out the meal as a food reserved for blacks. Smithsonian Magazine notes that Kraft Foods first introduced its boxed macaroni and cheese in 1937. "

    SMH at this.

Its normally not a part of Thanksgiving dinner where I'm from. More like a dish you have at a bbq but I love mac n cheese and I requested it specifically at grandma's crib last week lol

Yet another confirmation of Pat Robertson's underwhelming intelligence. If I hear one more standard human function referred to as "black" or "white" I'm going to friggin' scream! How about we just consider it as "food" and that certain houses eat it and others don't. From where I sit, the only specifically Thanksgiving-centric food is turkey/dressing/cranberry sauce. However, most people also do something that they like in addition. I happen to love my mother's homemade dinner rolls. They're not "black" dinner rolls, they're just rolls. Period.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the kitchen to have a slice of "black" watermelon.

the most disturbing thing is that there are two black women...condi rice and the co-host.

condi rice a well respected woman all around the world not just in the U.S. and was subjected to that kind of rehtoric. luckily for her she wasnt there to hear it.

2nd the woman that was there was chuckling like it was cute or something. she is about as bad as herman cain or kenny hamblin

I think y'all are reading too much into this. As I said earlier. I don't believe PR acted like he never heard of mac & cheese. He just didn't know it was a holiday dish, and wondered if it was a custom practiced by black families because most white families do not, as a rule, include the dish at Thanksgiving. I really think the author put their own bias into the article. IMO, the BW in the clip understood the spirit in which he was asking and answered with grace and humor.

That grace and humor is something indeed in spite of PR's ignorance.

unfettered ignorance is a Pat Robertson thing, for sure. I wonder what it's really like to work in the newsroom/production offices of an operation like The 700 Club. Does everybody there really and truly buy into the stories and news editorials promoted..
