LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY: Louisville Assembly plant will add 1,800 workers to build Escape; retooled facility's technology to provide production flexibility. Officials with Ford Motor Co. announced that its Louisville Assembly Plant will undergo a $600 million renovation to accommodate assembly of the next-generation Ford Escape, a lighter, more fuel-efficient sport-utility vehicle than the Explorers currently assembled there. Marcey Evans, manufacturing communications manager with Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford, said the plant, which currently operates one shift, will add a second shift and 1,800 new jobs to the existing employment of about 1,100. The new Escape will be built on Ford's C-car platform.
Ditto. I wonder why things like this aren't on Yahoo news. It could seriously lift the public's spirits.
