The funny thing is, back in my single a Travelling A Lot days, I corresponded with Aussie gals who turned me down...because I 'wasn't dark enough'.

They openly told me that they didn't care for that (quote) 'medium tan complexion (of mine)......you should be darker...with more Africanized features'(end quote)

So what is (was?) that all about?

    I never understood...I still kinda don't..

Tarshibear, Sin Mari, whikle and all other Antipodean gals concerned, lemme know. The ball's in *your* corner.....................

i have no idea what that is about at all...!!! were the women from a particular part in australia...??? as i've stated earlier, i have no shade preference...gorgeous black men come in many shades so why limit myself...???

Hmmmm...was it man from this board? :smt042 It was the same way with me. That just happened to be the complexion of the guys that approached me too. It wasn't because I'm not attracted to a dark man. I just haven't been approached by that many.

Actually yes, but it's someone who never posts, so I doubt it's the same guy. It just struck me as an odd thing to ask as I'd never really given it any thought, and apparently that was equally odd to him.

and i don't ever hear us girls asking what shade of white do they like. i just think it's a ridiculous question

Hmmmm. The guy that asked me didn't post either. Interesting. Actually, I've been asked by more than one guy here that question. It must be more important to them than it is us.

That's not true. The pale vs tan discussion has come up

but that was from a man...i'm speaking of women asking that question. i know i don't bring that into a conversation..'so, how light do you like your white?'

Yeah the pale and tan discussion may have been started by a man but none of the women minded throwing in their two cents. They didn't mind talking about how they didn't like their pale skin.

really? i don't remember the thread like that. i remember people discussing how they stay out of the sun to avoid skin cancer and leather skin etc. i'll have to go and find the thread again and reread it

I like to think I can appreciate beauty from all the shades of Brown, I certainly have been known to like a pretty boy occasionally light skinned but when i look over the dating mass I tend to go more for a Mid brown so darkish skinned.

damn I was thinking of writing a thread like this today. I was gonna do a unisex question in that for the women and the men. like do guys like pale white women, the tan or the Mediterranean looking women.

you said shades of brown. I think that is what he is pointing to. although "black" people are described as brown skinned people.

I just thought it was interesting how you used pretty boy and light skin together. I know you didn't mean anything by it. Just thought it was interesting.
