Liberty Tax Service is expanding its workforce in preparation for the tax season. The Virginia Beach, Va.-based retail tax preparation company looks to hire 50,000 seasonal workers for its 3,500 offices in the U.S. and Canada. Liberty Tax operates 11 locations in the Dayton region and has plans to open two more.

At each office, Liberty Tax will hire 10 to 15 seasonal workers, meaning the Dayton area could employ 110 to 165 seasonal workers. Positions available include ones in tax preparation, marketing and administration. Liberty also will hire employees to serve as Liberty wavers.

The company will offer free week-long "Rapid Tax" preparation courses in January 2011 to those interested in the positions. No previous tax experience is required. The 40-hour courses will cover the fundamentals of basic income tax preparation.

Registration information is available on the Liberty Tax website.
