another example of how a bitter black woman (jemele hill) resents seeing black men with white women. Nothing more, nothing less.

some people here are upset about the type of pose he is making..

others elsewhere are upset because he's showboating with a vibrant white woman at his side..

you really can't win with this many opinionated people

    lol..

    just let the man breathe

As i've previously stated, i didn't see any racial intent to this pose but i'm not willing to dismiss those who do see it given the context of the portrayal of black male sexuality.

Im more on as to why a victoria's secret model that models most of the time in lingerie got to show a different side to her, but the basketball player didn't?

That should of been asked more than anything else.

    she models

    he plays basketball

the only difference is that she's wearing a little more, than she usually does..

if there is another side that she is showing, let me know (IE is she padded up with a football in her hand? is she wearing army combat uniform w/m4, about to go off to Iraq)

    2 ideas..

    one..

if this cover was decided upon AFTER the Lebron issue, and the insuing bedlam, this would seem like a cover-up to ease the masses..

shut everyone up by putting another athlete onto the cover of a Vogue magazine, wearing sports attire holding a bat.

    two..

maybe A-Rod is more conservative, and did not want to portray an aggressive attitude...

Unlike Lebron, who plays a very physical sport where aggression can help, when you're gunning down the lane about to dunk your nuts into someone's mouth, while you go up for the jam...

    Just a couple of thoughts

Possibly. I think A-Rod is more concious and decided to do something not so over-the-top.

I was surprised to see actual online media outlets, discussing the Lebron cover, with the same intensity as some of the people here were.

I can't name any right off the "bat" (no pun intended), but I seen some articles on websites, that had professional critics referencing Lebron to King Kong. They also made some remarks about him representing the stereotype that all black men, want white women...

being a black guy who likes white women, i'm not sure what to think about that. I wouldn't mind posing on a cover with a cute white girl. But I wouldn't want people to think that I was trying to send off a message like every black dude's dream, is to be with a white girl.

the only reason why people complain about this is because it is lebron james on the cover with a white woman. IF he had been wearing a suit or looking like mr rodriguez, people would start saying he aint keeping it real.

I have been searching fo a while and didn't see any.
Can anyone find a pic of a athletic wm on the cover of some magazine or just a pic with a model making the aggressive like pose lebron is doing?

    seriously?

when a black guy does something, you want us to furnish evidence that what he is doing, is appropriate and acceptable by "the man?"

Are we using white guys as a measuring stick, for what we as black men, need to be doing?

So, a white guy gives a typical dry looking pose on Vogue, and we expect any brotha in the same scenario, to be looking to the white man for advice on how we need to behave.

Are we riding the man's coat-tails again?

    yes sah

Nah, people wouldn't think he's not 'keeping it real'. It's not about the fact he's w/ a white woman. More than anything, its the pose. Being with the WW on the cover added more intrigue to the cover.

    someone's goin to flip out...

if it's not over the pose, it's going to be about him with his arms around some white broad..

"black power" peeps across the nation are buggin right now

if lebron was really snoozing up to her on the cover...

    people would REALLy be buggin

Guys, the cover is an embarrassment. If you're going to have LeBron on the cover you would hope at least he would be dressed in either a sophisticated or sharp sporty manner. You want him looking cool and impressive alongside a supermodel babe. Instead we got this ridiculous beast-like approach, with him mugging like a fool to the camera as if he was posing for "Slam" magazine. But I'm not surprise. Just one more way to de-sexualize the black male to the public. LeBron should have said no to that particular photo. Its a joke. And Vogue can go kiss my ass.

Oh, and black females and white males would have had a problem with any cover of the two of them, even if the cover was well done. Maybe next time I'll share with you guys the controversy surrounding the Jamie Lee Curtis cable guide cover from almost 20 years ago.
