Leah Remini will not be silenced. After her headline-making split from Scientology earlier this month, the 43-year-old actress is speaking out about it for the first time ? and says she won't stop talking. "I believe that people should be able to question things," the former "King of Queens" star told People magazine at Saturday's 15th Annual DesignCare benefit in Malibu, though without uttering the word "Scientology" a single time. "I believe that people should value family, and value friendships, and hold those things sacrosanct. That for me, that's what I'm about. It wouldn't matter what it was, simply because no one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot, talk to." Remini, who was one of the best-known members of the controversial church, reportedly questioned leader David Miscavige about the whereabouts of his wife, Shelly, who hasn't been seen in public since 2007. (The incident took place at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's Italian wedding in 2006.) It led to her having to go through extensive "security checks," a practice of intensive personal questioning, and other members were told to "disconnect" from her. Eventually, it drove her to leave the church altogether. (The church doesn't comment on individual members.) "It doesn't matter, it could be anything," she said, referring to not being silenced. "I'm not about to shut up." read the rest............. http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/celeb-news/leah-remini-leaving-scientology-m-not-shut-150515642.html
i need to move to NJ. I love women like her. street (woman with a backbone), intelligent and educated and successful.
Women in New Jersey are very real and up front. That's what I miss about New Jersey. Everyone is real.
I remember my late older brother having a copy of L. Ron Hubbard's book Dianetics. I did not understand what this book was saying and I put it down. Battlefield:Earth, seemed like a good story, on paper(I did not see the movie or buy the music for the book composed by Chick Corea and others). I had no idea of what Scientology was until Tom Cruise announced that he was in this religion. It seemed like he was riding high at the time with all his movie hits(and he continues to ride high). And you can't go anywhere without seeing or hearing something in reference to him(like the Bob Seger song Old Time Rock 'n Roll, Berlin's Take My Breath Away or Kenny Loggins' Danger Zone). Then, John Travolta announced that he was a Scientologist and his career really picked up. Isaac Hayes and others. It seemed to me at the time, that Scientology, a religion that Hubbard had established in the mid or late 1950's(I may be wrong. Correct me if I am wrong), was a religion for the self. A religion of self-empowerment and reliance. Like almost every religion, it rewards the faithful with some privileges. But, like almost every religion, there are rules to be adhered to. I think Lea Remini's decision to leave and break her silence about Scientology is a bold step. Katie Holmes pulled a Mission: Impossible and Left Tom Cruise, but she did not divulge anything about Scientology. Lea Remini gets my support big time.
