I think he meant women vs men in general and since men, (since they were taking women vs men equality) on the whole make more for the same job than women, then, his point was not valid. But yeah, if we are going to save by earning, you are correct.

Actually, wage gap between blacks is a product of different careers. It isn't a product of different pay for same jobs. But, I understand now, my mistake.

The exact same thing can be said for women but to be fair in the case of bm there are certain jobs that are totally shrouded in racism. Take firefighters for instance, its a pretty cushy job with great pay and benefits and its notorious for keeping out bm which is why affirmative action had to be applied to the hiring process. Unlike with women bm go for the same jobs a lot of wm go for but just don't get it.

I don't know how it is in Philly but where I live its two 24 hour shifts to get your 40 then you have the option of 5 days off which most guys don't do. One of my boys made 50k in ot last year and most of that time was spent in the firehouse working out and sleeping. There are times they have to risk their lives but these days its a lot less risk and the majority of their calls are traffic accident clean ups. Sounds pretty sweet to me. No college degree required and in 25 years you sit back and collect a pension equal to whatever your pay was the last year you worked. That's some lottery shit kid.

Obligatory "This isn't the suffering Olympics" comment after reading how race trumps gender... :p

In regards to lack of actual wage gap,

Without a wage gap, the emphasis goes to other things.
