Hell, DK, very true. I'm a middle aged white woman, and if I were in the same position Jaisee was, where I was being watched by the police just for being somewhere (like when I lived in Los Angeles and actually WALKED in Beverly Hills), I'd feel nervous too. I'm nowhere near as likely to be profiled as a young black man, but they still make me feel more nervous than protected. Maybe it comes of growing up when I did.

I know that the majority do their jobs and just want to go home at the end of the day. No more no less, but I can't over nor ignore how many of them turn a blind eye when they KNOW others are planting drugs on young kids over bullshit or harassing people for being in the ""wrong" area. I ain't right.

Many professors at community coll of Philly have masters and doctorates from reputable schools, so I wouldn't downplay it

they have a faculty listing site with that info. You'd be in good company, all jokes aside. Not sure how much they make tho, compared to professors at Penn state or rutgers

That's why I pray things workout in the private sector for the next 20 years and then I can spend the rest of my days teaching and write academic journals. Just need to make enough to retire with and hopefully put two kids through college.

    That's where that cash is

unfortunately that sector isn't known to be the most stable, compared with a government job, or one at a university/healthcare

you could be an economist. Econ is like math, psychology, sociology and pol sci rolled into one

That's actually the program I'm enrolled in economics/applied math. Learning game theory right now.

    Haha awesome

Econ is one of those off the beaten path fields, that don't get the spotlight

which is good, because like engineering that market shouldn't be saturated with mainstreamers

Only downside barely any decent looking women.
I'm taking a spanish class filled with some cute girls.
On the first day I accidently walked into an organic chem class. Every single girl was an 8 or better. Guess the best looking women are going into nursing or pre-med instead of the traditional oversaturated teaching and social work fields.

Tell u what...plenty of hot nurses around here, that's for damn sure

they got the nerve to be wearing tight form fitting scrubs also

oddly enough, one of my old teachers that was a Penn alumni, said ivy girls were ugly when he attended

I wish I could send him some photos of these girls now

Around here NYU definitely has better looking girls than Columbia but those girls in the light blue don't take themselves as serious. The funny thing I notice about all the nurses, teachers, and social workers is they only want to date guys in finance(especially at the big names like B of A, Goldman Sachs, and WellsFargo), doctors, and lawyers (blue chip 200k dudes of course). New York is fucking fierce kid but damn if the women aren't gorgeous and know they can leverage that shit. Even the women who are doctors lawyers and bankers only fuck with doctors lawyers and bankers. Something I've definitely noticed since moving into my 30s. So when I decide to date seriously again I better have that Phd pedigree a six pack and six fig salary because a witty attitude and good smile ain't cutting it these days lol

    Lol

    Goldman sachs

I'd have to go to wharton for that

that's one of their pipelines in Philly

Not sure how you plan on netting 200k in Econ tho

you'd have a better chance if u were a nurse anesthetist

    :p

A lot of econ dudes go into finance out here. I'd have to go to NYU Stern for an MBA or Phd. Truthfully I'm aiming for and praying for low 6 figures out here and if things get better economy wise I can move to a cheaper state like CT or Delaware.

the only bm that i have dated that had trouble with the law was because he broke the law...i have not known bm to fear the police or have any unsavory interactions with the police...i actually have known a couple of bm police officers...so i guess your experience is completely different then anything else i have ever witnessed...i can't even remember having a conversation with anyone that felt the police had harrassed them...certainly not because they were black...one played catch me if you can with the feds for a very long time successfully

I keep forgetting NYC has a steep cost of living

Ur cops make more than federal agents at entry level

Well, you've had very "different" men in your life, IMO, because I've never met a man, regardless of education, social status, region of the country or profession, who doesn't share my sense of apprehension and unease with policemen. For the record, I've also never done anything illegal in my life, including even smoking marijuana, and that goes for everyone in my family.

I guess that might make a good forum question too...

I can answer it. Every American bm feels the same way my friend and those who don't have never turned on the news or been around the police.
I got a first rate education on so many damn reports where cops are trained to racially profile to cut down on response time. If so many are saying it, it can't be some fabrication made up in our heads. Like I said before its all good as long as certain people don't have to deal with it.
