Exactly. This is why I didn't understand why the ol' "so why can't whites say N?" argument came up, as Kramer's use of it was so clearly vehement and full of malice.

I really don't think using the word so much that it will lose its impact will work - it's like spitting on the millions of blacks who suffered under it. A word's a word, you might say, but historical and social context completely alter this idea.

There are a lot of relationships where there this occurs.
and i mean the white person says nigger and mean nigger. no this semantically confused play on the word but the meaning directly connected with slavery and Jim Crow etc. Yet these people still remain friendly.

Time, politics, economics and tolerance has lead to a sort of watered down acceptance of the words usage by white people. I hear white people and black people make the comment about the usage in rap music and that is no excuse for any white person to contort their lips to form that word. But they often do and that the way it is.

I've learned that it does matter what someone says or does its what you are doing that matters.

All of the sudden we have all these latter day "black leaders" and "social champions" swarming out of the wood work because some inept actor attempting comedy can't take the heat as it were. I mean we got problems with education, employment, and on and on but Jesse Jackson is going to have this fool on trying to scramble to save what little career he has left.

add this one instance to the million of instances when this has and still is occurring in this country,Latin America, the Middle East, Europe, Asia and yes AFRICA.

I'm not saying we should go out to prove the whole world wrong about black people, no. We should be living to prove to ourselves and our community that we can maintain and sustain the health, wealth and happiness of our people.

and if you ain't down with making sure we as a community progress grow and become strong then what are you down for?

You should spread that speech throughout the black community. That is something everyone needs to hear.

Damon Wayans Breaks Club's Ban On 'N-Word'

The Laugh Factory has banned the term since the Richards incident. Black comedian Damon Wayans was recently fined $320 and banned from the club for three months for using the word during his December 3rd, 2006 stand up act. Despite a pre-show warning from producers that use of the "n-word" would result in fines, the comedian used the term 16 times during his 20-minute set, and taunted club owner Jamie Masada by sprinkling folded bills across the stage and asking Masada "How much you want?".

"I'll be damned if the white man uses that word last," Wayans told the audience. "This is part of our culture now don't take that from us.

duh, yeah... Saying the n-word like that no matter who says it, should never, ever be tolerated. African-Americans should know better not to use it. I don't buy this -a and -er BS, the n-word is ugly.

You are probably right. I think he/she is here to create a stir; he/she is probably very upset of seeing a site like this. This cat doesn't have a clue.

    By the way, hi there.

    just my two.
    who cares?
    i still like seinfield.

the only reason why its such a big deal?
    it wasnt funny.
also, there was a time before this incident where he verbally attacked a jewish couple in the audience.

    and i read...

Did Michael Richards attack the Jews? Two Los Angeles residents have come forward and said that's exactly what happened last Spring at L.A. comedy club, The Improv.

Carol Oschin and J.P. Fillet say they were at The Improv on April 22 when Richards took the stage. They say that in the middle of Richards' skit, a man in the audience said something to the comedian, when Richards allegedly launched into an anti-Semitic rant. According to Oschin, Richards screamed at the audience member, "You f***ing Jew. You people are the cause of Jesus dying."
Oschin says the rant continued and Richards stormed off the stage. Oschin and Fillet say that, at first, they thought Richards' tirade was part of his act, but claim that it quickly became apparent it was not.

Richards' publicist, Howard Rubenstein, confirmed to TMZ that Richards did make derogatory comments about Jews, but says it was part of his act. Rubenstein says Richards told him, "I'm not anti-Semitic. I was playing a role and poking fun at the rednecks."

so.....who ever is really really really upset, please give me your seinfield box sets, im still a fan of the show.

Personally, I sense some people are still upset over what Richards said. I don't think he is a great performer, nor feel Seinfeld was all that (it was overrated and unfunny to me).

Richards has issues, degrading a couple of black people, now hearing about giving the same treatment to a couple Jewish people. Meeting up with Jesse Jackson when he had a radio show, which I think now is no longer on the air, and appearing in several talk shows including Letterman didn't do anything for him. I also understand he made fun of being black at one time, which I felt was not very entertaining.
