Just saw the movie (cute movie, I would be really proud of Jaden if I were Will and Jada) but its not an IR flick.

:smt042 I saw a clip of him in an interview with Letterman and he did come off cocky. Very cute though. I guess with his talent and two famous parents he may be prone to a little cockiness.

I just saw the movie last night and I have to say it was amazing. Better than the original imo.
Jaden Smith is an exceptional actor but I guess that's no surprise since its in his genes and he gave us a glimpse in pursuit of happiness. He's very charasmatic on screen and looked authentic when did his action scenes. The one thing that always annoyed me about the first film was Ralph Machio's character trained for two months and beat allow those people who had been training for years and his form was horrible, not one once of skill. Jaden trained hard and it showed. Not to mention the movie didn't make a big deal about him being a black kid a strange new land he was just a kid in a strange new land. It looks like we're moving away from all the black faced stereotypes and I for one couldn't be happier about it.

Im glad they played the race thing down. Im going off of what you are saying. Im hoping that will be true from here on out.

the only time it should be played when it comes to history but outside of that naw...I cant think of another reason it should be done.

Exactly. We are a global world now. Time to act like it

They do touch on race but without knocking you over the head with it, which is a breath of fresh air these days in film. Not everything should be spelled out to the audience.

    SPOILERS

The Asian girl out of the blue tells Dre her parents don't want her to be friends with him anymore. No reason is given, but we all know why. The kids (including the girl) are shown to be touching Dre's mother's hair with happy curiosity.

Or it could be that he was loud and embarassing at the recital that she was almost late to because she was hanging out and not practicing. Geesh

You can't possibly think that's enough to not want their daughter to be friends with someone? :smt104

Have you ever been exposed to a strict culture fam?
My parents banned people from coming in my house if they forgot to wipe their feet before coming in. Foreign parents don't play.

blacks were more into the karate/kung fu before the majority of whites did, for example in the poorer black communities. so it isnt that different for a black person to lead a story like this imo.

That's stupid. Him being black had nothing to do with it. I think him being Will Smith's son had more to do with him getting the role and let's be real that character was far from ghetto.
