Michael Jackson's "Thriller" was and is still the best video of all-time.:smt045 I have yet to see something come even close to that.
The mere idea that videos today are given awards is a complete joke. They all look the same with the flash, and the sexy women, and the bling, and whatever. There all made from a template. No inspiration or creativity whatsoever. Why? Because that would be too risky. The problem is, without risk, you have no art.

Just because kids and that Jonas Brother imitated it and put it on youtube? Nah, that doesn't make it even close to being worthy of the title "best video in the world" or "best video ever made by human hands" or any other idiotic title Kanye puts on it.
That's not at all what I said. People in far flung countries made "happenings" out of the dance. It was, in fact, a huge phenomenon. I'm not a huge Beyonce fan. I don't think her video was better than Thriller. But there is a strong argument that it was better than the other videos up for the award. There is a strong argument that it was the video of this year. I could imagine that if the newsheads decided to make a time capsule of this year, that video would be in it. I don't think what Kanye did was right by any stretch of the imagination. Just saying.
taylor swift won "best female video" beyonce won "video of the year" :smt102so if we are quibbling about who had the better video...they both won awards now lets get back to our kanye bashing:smt062
There are plenty of videos made every year that are original, artistic, and beautiful. They just don't generally get much play on television. But one could also argue that most things on television follow cookie cutter patterns, and that originality fled the scene a long time ago and settled on the internet and premium channels instead. It's one of the reasons I find very little interest in watching television. My tv exists for video games almost exclusively. Most of my "entertainment" comes from the internet and sometimes obscure dvds. But it's probably because I prefer to choose what I watch, as opposed to letting some corporation do it for me. But, really, true art has rarely been mainstream, so one really can't expect much from venues that try to be both. Just because someone is good at an art form doesn't necessarily make them capable of producing real art. There are plenty of artists on tv...doesn't mean they're all worth a damn, though.
I just watched him on Jay Leno. He really looked sorry. Good actor or sincere? I felt bad for him. I hope he does take a break, like he said he would. Sounds like he needs a rest.

Am I the only one who thinks the KFC round da way, should have a Taco Bell section like the other joints?
