The line was from the song “Famous,” off his seventh album, The Life of Pablo. It’s no surprise that his lyrics are throwing shade at others in the industry — he is Kanye after all!

A lot of people didn't know who she was. She started off as a country singer and won some awards for being the youngest this and that. She did the crossover and won the award and there was a lot of people who didn't think she deserved it. Then idiot Kanye did his BS. Clearly she was doing well before him and has done very well after. He probably did help to bring her attention from different demographics than had known of her before.

I knew who Kanye was but I was living in Fresno at the time and he was always coming around there. I don't know what his connection was there at the time. i thought he was a jackass then he pulled that stunt and the many others that have followed.
