Judge Orders $1 Million Returned to Exotic Dancer

    http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/judge-orders-1-million-returned-exotic-dancer-151044009.html

A federal judge has ruled that Nebraska cops must return over $1 million confiscated at a traffic stop from a woman who saved the money $1 at a time during her 15 year career as an exotic dancer.

The money belongs to Tara Mishra, 33, of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., who began putting aside her earnings when she started dancing at age 18, according to an opinion U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon wrote last week. The money was meant to start her business and get out of the stripping business, the judge wrote.

State troopers confiscated the money in March 2012 when they pulled over Rajesh and Marina Dheri, of Montville, N.J., for speeding in Nebraska, according to court documents. The Dheris are friends of Mishra and had been given the cash so they could buy a nightclub in New Jersey. Mishra would own half of the business and the Dheris would own the other half.

Mishra had packaged the money in $10,000 bundles tied with hair bands and placed in plastic bags, and it was stashed in the trunk of the Dheri's rented car, which the Dheris were driving to Chicago. When they were pulled over for speeding, a state trooper asked the Dheris if he could search their vehicle, which they allowed, Bataillon explained.

The state trooper found the money and after suspecting it was drug money took the Dheris into custody, according to the judge's opinion. But police did not find any evidence of drug activity in the car and a K-9 analysis found only trace elements of illegal drugs on the cash, according to Bataillon.

Neither Mishra nor the Dheris could not be reached for comment.

"The government failed to show a substantial connection between drugs and the money," Bataillon wrote in his opinion. "The dog sniff is inconsequential…The court finds the Mishras' story is credible…Ms. Mishra did have control over the money and directed the Dheris to deliver the money to New Jersey for the purchase of the business."

Bataillon ordered that Mishra receive cash or a check in the value of $1,074,000 with interest.

Haha I just read this earlier!

And my thought was... the cops saw that money going into their police kitty fund...money she worked her azz off to make. That was HER money, and it goes to show you the power the cops try to invoke.
    Big ups to the judge.

    Love the interest part!

You do know she was transporting drug money.

Ain't no stripper gona save that type of money.

Drug dealers often use females to transport drugs/money cuz they rarely get harassed by the cops.

Yay for her! And she gets a tidy sum on top as interest for all her trouble. Sometimes, just sometimes, the people can win.

I have to agree with this. She would've had to be making in excess of $65k a year to be able to save a mil AND make a living for herself.

Even if it were true, who the heck would be dumb enough to bundle up cash and stash it in the trunk of a car? Can't wait to see how she runs her business....

I guess you don't know strippers... The strippers I know work in Vegas part of the week and return to Cali to live. I've seen them bring home 10k+ a week doing what they do.

Not when they dance for pro ball players. There are professional men who have the money to drop that type of money on a stripper. All she needs to do is two 5k dances.

I'm in the wrong job. I'm not "exotic" enough for a 5k dance, but I'd like to think I could at least get 50 bucks. :smt081

I had a friend who was making close to 2 grand a night on good nights at an upscale club. That was on weeknights.

Men WILL drop the cash on pretty girls who can work the ass

I've known strippers here in SD who bring in 5-6k a week (not exactly 10k, but still damn good money)! They'd work a few hours a night, a few nights a week and enjoy the good life (financially speaking)!

You and me both! I work way harder, and make way less than the dancers I know! They've got a nice payout for a little ass shaking!

    ...*contemplates career change*...

That stripper has strong resolve to save her money by not buying expensive stuff, and not getting into drugs. She was smart enough not to put it in a bank since she would be taxed like the dickens. The police think that she was a drug carrier and wanted to put her hard earned dough into their kitty. Now I'm pleased she is going to get it back and I hope she gets a good money manager so she would not had to endure that hassle again.

Did His cuteness just throw large numbers at me?

    I hates maths.
    It makes me have seizures

She would work 3 days a week and 2 weekends a month.
    She made bank.

I'm glad this woman is getting her money back. It's not exactly easy. My friend had to put up with a lot of fuckery to do what she did.
I guess some have the constitution to dance.

I comptemplated it in my early 20s and decided I couldn't do it.
Seriously thought about it just for the money factor though.

It is ridiculously good money. I'm going to open a wwbm strip club, and I'm coming for you! I think you and I could make some good $$$! Do it for a few years and we'd be set! :smt061
