Last November I was sideswiped by a car while riding my bicycle (they did not even stop and I could not see their plate number) resulting in a severely fractured wrist and some other bumps an bruises that took a while to heal. I put on some extra weight while recovering and am recently back to daily exercise. A couple of months ago I bought one of those indoor bicycles (at the wife's insistence) that has multiple programs you can download, one of the best ones has been Jillian Michael's program that has been VERY challenging. Never watched the biggest loser, did not know much about her, but she knows her stuff. I have taken off all the weight I gained and still going, I highly recommend if you are into biking.
Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to hear you're all healed up. That indoor biking doesn't get too boring?
Thanks for the kind words everyone. Yes the indoor biking can get boring, but the bike I bought has all of the tour de France maps, as well as countless others, so you are literally seeing the landscape on the screen (ipad) while you are riding. So far I have ridden multiple maps on 4 different continents. So that helps break up the boredom.
This sounds kind of cool. I get tired of the monotony of the gym, so I like to switch it up by going for a run/walk through my neighborhood. I have always wanted a bike, but since I live in an apartment I have nowhere to store it. Same would apply to an indoor bike, but your ipad/touring bike sounds pretty cool. congrats on the weight loss, Loki
I have always enjoyed a good bike ride. I enjoy the freedom it gives you when you're on the road or trail. I'm glad you're fine.
Interesting. I've been thinking of trying to get my girl something like this. She wants to bike, but because of issues with her balance (she gets Vertigo from time to time) doing so in busy LA traffic might not be a good idea. Thanks for the info.
Yes, my road biking days are over, too many close calls, then the injury, too many cars just don't respect bikers, even when we ride in our own lanes. Gotta be careful out there. There are numerous options for bikes with multiple maps... Pelotoncycle.com - price is high and the live streaming classes cost $39/month, but I have heard good things proform.com - pricey as well and TERRIBLE reviews on amazon.com, mostly focusing on customer service http://www.amazon.com/ProForm-Le-To...546189&sr=8-1&keywords=proform+tour+de+france. Nordictrack.com is what I went with, they have many models to choose from at more reasonable costs, so far I am pleased, although I did have to replace the right pedal as the screw that came with it was not holding tight. Those were the three options I researched before buying, good luck to you and your girl!
