Japan has done it again in beating the U.S. in the supercomputer race and the Chinese are closing in as well. While this country is declining in all sectors of the technological realms, other countries are putting on the pressure to replace the U.S. in everything from alternative energy to supercomputers. What we do? we just look from the side line. We need to emphasize more science and technologies in our schools rather than the PC crap. Whoever dominates in the advancement of these megamachines control the direction of the economies of the future. The supercomputer is to this new era in advancement as the steam engine was in the industrial revolution. If only they would teach this shit in the schools rather than condoms.

    Getting our asses kicked, huh?

That computer you're using to get on the Internet, who manufactured it? If you have a smart phone, who made it? What company designed the software for that smartphone?

Think before you jump to unfounded conclusions.

People make too much of a fuss about this kinda shit. So one country surpasses us in technology and all over a sudden it's like Japan is MP3 and America is 8-track. And I honestly was always under the impression that Japan surpassed the U.S. in technology years ago.

The real question is Japan is, along with half the damn world it seems, is shitting on America when it comes to academics. What do we do?

    FYI

Supercomputing is a very volatile field to honestly determine. Supercomputers get spit out so fast these days, someone will be on top next week. By saying the US is behind is ridiculous and ludicrous. America spends the most on millitary research- thats where the top technology is. You think these supercomputers are going to be playing solitare? NO, they are going to be calculating missile trajectories and explosions with lots of expensive physics calculations. With that being said, these supercomputers are built with US technology: AMD, INTEL, IBM, NVIDIA, etc. Remember, America doesn't steal technology- other countries steal American technology.
