    ^^^^......but it's not all about the $$$$.

JH is a talented player, which means he's gonna' be in the league for a minute (a LOOOOONG minute), so the $$$$ will be there.

    It's mostly about the money
(as long as winning goes along for the ride)

    Exactly.
It's about the money first then they hope the winning comes along for the ride. (In my experience working with them).
As long as they're set for lives because as we know, it's a business.

^^^^......& when the overwhelming love of money increased, the integrity of the NBA decreased.

Whatever happened to the players back in the day who played basketball because they genuinely enjoyed it? My dad used to tell me all kinda' stories about Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dr. J, Barkley, Pistol Pete, Earl the Pearl, Dominique Wilkins, Run TMC, etc., etc., & etc. He said those guys played the game with heart & passion. I mean, yeah, the $$$$ was there in the long run after their careers were over & done with, but these guys played the game with such passion that if you were a spectator, you woulda' thought they were playin' the game for mere entertainment, not $$$. That's the kinda' players the NBA need to bring back.

All that changed with huge TV contracts, etc.

Sign of the times about where the most value lies. Its about the "Green" first and foremost.

Players now have to think like businessmen and if I was in there shoes I would be thinking the same way.

I would be deftly afraid to be one of those guys who retires and then is broke a few years later.

Its the reality of the society today, everything we do now is dictated by money, whether its politics, health care, etc, its about having cold hard cash.

One of the biggest culprits of this is the NFL and its TV contract.

I would look out for every penny if I played in the NFL because if you are not good any more you don't have guaranteed contracts and so the team can send you packing, cut throat style.

Watch one day the Ravens will likely cut Ray Lewis and it won't be pretty, unless he chooses to retire on his own if he is no longer the same impact player.

I personally don't fault guys in the NFL for holding out in camp for every last penny, because of the nature of the league and the contract structure. Its ruthless in the NFL if you are no longer needed.

Guys can always hang on in basketball, baseball, not in the NFL though.

Don't indict the NBA. It's the same in EVERY sport and league (that makes a profit) and for good reason.

The owners and fans don't care about the players but expect the players to only care about the team.(Yet the team is greater than the player). The player rightfully has to look out for himself. Plus, you also have to factor in change in generations and change in the way of the world. Very few things or aspects of the world today are similar to years gone by.

It's just the way it is.

Yeah, i've been bracing for this day to come some time in the near future. He's now out for this year (torn tricep), so the only question left is "When?"

Yep, the way the NFL works only a matter of "when" indeed.
