Pretty much. And let's not forget that Heigl was in her own salary negotiations with ABC during the whole Washingon fiasco, so don't hail her as a hero just yet. She was probably trying to spin events to her own benefit. After all, look who's still working and who isn't. PS: I quit watching "Grey's" when they shot Burke and gave him the shakes. Just couldn't have the black man be on top of his game. Had to bring him down a peg. No bullets for McDreamy or McSteamy.
I was starting to warm to the show but now they get rid of the brotha nope forget it. This is why I stick to cable and DVD.
Great article. Pretty much sums up my feelings. A lot of times, when things happen with blacks, i often try to objectively analyze from both sides, and not to play up racial emotions quickly. Not because i'm afraid of a white backlas, a la "you're playing the race card"; quite frankly, i don't give a fuck but sometimes, i love to believe race had nothing to do with it. But the facts suggests otherwise. Many white actors have used homophobic slurs and worse things against people and have been given a shot at redemption - rightly so, by the way. Because i believe people should be given a second chance. Of course, there are consequences for bad behavior. When you do something wrong, you should accept the consequences but should be allowed to redeem. Alec Baldwin went on a hell of a rant against his daughter, and was allowed on "The View". Can anyone really convince me that, if Will Smith called Jaden a rude, little pig for the world to hear that he'd be given airtime to even explain himself? You make the call. For those of you who want to live in the land of zo, remain there as it's a beautiful place to be. But the truth remains that this issue with Isiah Washington is every bit about race as it is about insensitivity.
Isaiah is back this fall. He's got a five-episode arc on the new "Bionic Woman" show on NBC plus a development deal for his own show in future, also with NBC. This is according to Entertainment Weekly (print not web). NBC knows what's up, so support.
