I havent sat and watched news for a few weeks with my travels but today soon as the tv turned on the the first news story I saw was of this guy's marriage proposal which I thought was remarkable.
I think this is cute, But Sometimes I think people put too much energy into the idea of marriage and not enough energy into the daily work that makes marriages last. I wonder how many couples, who have these grand proposals and fairytale weddings, stay married for 20 years or more?
I have to disagree, people need to put more energy into the idea of marriage. these days people are so quick to get married then get divorced. It's not like the old days when people got married and stayed married.
Right. People give up to easy. They don't want to spend time or effort it seems, to make a relationship work. I see a lot of thread here on what will I get from being married...what does the other person bring to the table...blah blah blah. I appreciate my partner and like doing the little things that make him happy. I don't go into relationships like a lawyer going to a settlement meeting. Those things will work themselves out. :smt085
We may not agree all the way, I believe that if hypothetically i brought to the table an amazing resume and residual income from investments my partner should a stable way to make income... my wife would have the option to not work if she pleases however I would want her to have the same ambition and determination that I have. If what I described is what you mean by bringing things to the table then I cant agree with your 'bringing to the table' comments. When I was younger I had a long list of things I wanted in a wife, these days its just knowing that the person I choose believes in the same values of marriage as I do. If anythign she should bring to the table family values where her parts have been married as long or longer than my parents.
That was my point. Too many people are quick to get married, because they get caught up in the silly romance of marriage, but they don't consider the long term reality of it.
