Is there some disrespect in general for white women as opposed to black woman?

I'm a white woman who was dating a black man and found him to be somewhat disrespectful towards me. I got the feeling he would really rather be with a black woman and he would look at black women when we were out. I am wondering if a lot of black men have less respect for white women?

If a man doesn't have respect for women I don't think skin tone has anything to do with it but it might dictate how he expresses it.
Why would you want to be with someone who disrespects. Don't you believe you deserve better?

 

That has not been my experience. In fact just the opposite.

I guess I have felt a bit put down in this last relationship and wondered if it was just cultural differences but I think that was just my excuse of taking or putting up with stuff because I liked him so much. I have to point out he had a criminal past and his disrespect could have more to do with this than any cultural differences.

I was just confused also wondering if he treated all women that way or was it just that I am white. But the fact is that if he was treating me badly I was letting him. I can only blame myself.

Your experience was because of that particular person, IMO. Nothing to do with him being black or you being white.
There are arseholes of every colour and in every culture. Sadly, I think we all date at least one of them in our lives.
