Sometimes, but not always. Life isn't fair and that's something that we all have to accept.

That's just my thought process. If I've never hit it off with an American girl, is it unreasonable to try somewhere else? I was half joking, half serious. I just don't approve of spending your whole life looking for women. I've already put in enough time.

At the end of Neil Strauss's book 'The Game' he basically says that you don't even need 'game'. Just be great and women will like you. I like that alternative more I guess.

Well said my friend. I think they have a hard time dealing with this because in their social sphere and personal experience they see plenty of attractive women who aren't like this so to them it seems like a cop out. But I definitely hear you on this one.

    Thanks.

I don't even think that it's so much because they know tons of attractive women who're down to earth than it is the fact that they're not men. We all claim "preeminence to sorrow, because things felt are more than things seen or heard" (The Mahabharata). So simple, and yet, so profound.

I see your point and you have turned my own argument onto me very well! :D Yes it is hard for me to see others that way mainly because I have surrounded myself with women who aren't gold diggers etc.. I do know that they exist though and I imagine men are more likely to see that side of those women than I will... Thanks for this post Andrae!

That's your prerogative. You have to do what's best for you and what you think will work for you. You have said you're a cynic and that you think you look alright or something to that effect. If you flipped those things around, your outlook might be a little different. I also think you're still young and have plenty of time to look for women. Then again, before you said you weren't looking. This country is huge! If you don't find someone in your city, try another city or even another state. Don't rule out American women just yet! To each his own though....

That's a great sentiment to follow....

Very true fam very insightful. It really makes me think of something Wayne Dyer said in the power of intentions. If we change the way we look at things the things we look at begin to change which makes me think that we are indeed the prisoners of our own perception unless we choose otherwise.

No thank you for reading what I wrote and no simply disagreeing with me just because I didn't agree with you. It speaks volumes about your character. Btw the company you keep says a lot about you and I like what I'm hearing Athena.

    Indeed.
I am cynical, that's for sure - or at least when it comes to women anyway. If I had a son I would never want him to grow up like me.
It's very important that young men and women have healthy relationships with the opposite sex because when they don't, the damage can be long-lasting and in many cases permanent. There are social milestones that every young person looks forward to, and if they're not looking forward to them, they'll regret it later. First girlfriend, first kiss, school dance, prom, sex (not always in that order) - that's what I mean. When you miss out on those irretrievable moments for whatever reason, you begin to associate women with loss, humiliation, exclusion, etc. Just look at rap music. "Now they sayin' they love me, used to tell their friends I was ugly and wouldn't touch me" (Jay-z), "I knew hoes that fronted on me when they knew I was broke, they say damn: Yeezy Yeezy, you don't know us no mo?" (Kanye). The list could go on. Nobody who has had a healthy relationship would be that way and vice versa. It's not really a switch that you can just turn off, unfortunately.
Once you're in your mid twenties it's crunch time. Whatever fun you didn't have in your teens or early twenties - you just have to get over that and start working on your life.

Now that you broke it down for me, I have a better understanding of what you mean. I agree about those sentimental pastimes being of utter importance.

I see what you're also saying about having fun in your twenties, but check the "What is Old" thread and you'll see how us older folks look at you guys in your twenties who think the world is coming to an end, when in fact, it's just beginning. I wish I could turn back the hands of time sometimes.

Hey some of us young guys are ok with getting older and are beginning to love you senior citizens more and more
