Is there really double standards in dating overseas?

It's funny that you posted this. Earlier today I was thinking about how the chess player Bobby Fischer said "I don't like American women, they're very conceited you know. In Europe they're more pleasant". I've never left the U.S. so I kind of wondered if it's true. I doubt that it's true, but I wonder.

I can say that just about every girl I've liked online has not been American but that's not really enough to go off of.

 

Espy I agree with you but you can say this 10 000 000 times over and over again but if someone doesn't see that, they never will even with your eloquent words.

Perception and reality are often two different things. Most men I have met here and in person have perceived women as essentially gold diggers yet the reality is far from that. As you have written, there are women who don't give a damn what a man HAS but what he brings to the relationship. But if a man (like many) doesn't see that, he won't believe it.

The late Bobby Fischer was not well in the head and had a lot of issues. He later lived in Iceland where he was still trippin til his death.

People mainly question his sanity because of what he said about Jews. I highly doubt that he was mentally incapable of giving his genuine opinion on American women though.

 

I guess it depends on whether you think the time it'll take to sift through all of the undesired ones is worth it. Personally, I'd rather just get a mail order bride from Africa or something.

I hear you Athena, but you know I just cannot read stuff like that and not point out the obvious contradictions. I think a lot of times people's theories, though not necessarily based upon sound logic, become self-fulfilling. If you go out into the world with preconceived notions that all women are gold-diggers, or bitches, or feminists, then I suspect you're going to find an awful lot of women who appear to be precisely that. I just think sometimes people find what they expect to find, whether that's accurate or not, because it's easier to assume someone is like that than to actually give them the benefit of the doubt until you find out otherwise.

 

Completely disagree. Did it occur to you that since you don't believe yourself to be that way its hard for you to see others that are.

 

It isn't a matter of not recognizing that there are women who are like that if you aren't, it's a matter of not automatically assuming everyone is the same. I'm actually a very good judge of character, but I don't approach anyone with a preconceived notion of what I'm going to find, I give everyone a clean slate and go from there. I think that's all we're saying here, just don't allow your disappointing past interactions with women to jade you to all the women you meet.

 

It has little to do with past experience and more to do with popular culture Esp.
Its evident in our behavior as a culture.

 

Men are definitely superficial when it comes to looks. But most of them are also willing to overlook the fact that a gorgeous woman has a bad attitude, a boring personality, no job, no home, no income, and no vehicle. And so, in that scenario, I believe that the generosity outweighs the superficiality even though the superficiality cannot be denied. That's simply my opinion and in no way is it what I'd profess to be cemented fact.
