Yes, I am a Christian. But I find all religions have something to teach me and are interesting. I just believe in Jesus and the Christian faith. I am somewhat sceptical or organised religion, because I believe it is just an instrument of man - albeit, usually one with good intentions. I prefer to take the bible in a way that speaks to me, and take what I need from church's.

I definitely think it's important to believe in something. And, I wouldn't date someone who did not have an active faith in Christianity...someone along the same lines as me...it's an important fundamental value. IMO.

I too am a skeptic of organized religion, it should be personal and we have to see God as a very personal God. I haven't yet seen a church that I can say I agree with 100%. I also try to learn from other religions, but mostly they keep confirming to me why I am a Christian.

And who said anything about black gold? They fight over land, which is a ...... RESOURCE!

In countries where there are no land disputes, there is no fighting between "muslims" and "christians".

    I AM A CHRISTIAN

Well, first, I am a Christian and a proud member of an organized Lutheran Congregation. Organized religion is not wrong; it teaches you discipline, to share, responsibility towards the work of God and others, it teaches you order(God is a God of order, how else would you explain Nature and yes ,Science), it teaches you that goodness in people does exists.

I was agreeing with you that wars can just be about religion and not about resources. Sorry if I wasn't clear!

The Crusades weren't considered a war, were they? But, alot of people died because of them....

I said I was a skeptic of organized religion, not that I thought there was no good in it.

However there are many "Christian Churches" that are not 100 % scriptural, it doesn't mean I wouldn't attend, or that I would tell someone else not to attend, just that I don't take everything taught as Bible truth, until I've had time to personally study it.

I also don't like to identify myself with any one denomination, as I personally have found something that most of them say they stand for publicly or at least something they are known for is a little off base.

    Thanks for clearing it up.

There is no denomination that is perfect or 100% spot on with the Word of God, but to NOT be part of any of them just don't make sense to me. My humble opinion. I recommend you read Rick Warren's books, "The Purpose Driven life" and "The Purpose Driven Church" It is very insightful and help me understand the importance of fellowship with one another and being part of a church.

    God Bless

I've heard good things about that book, and I'm sure I'd find it fascinating.

I am very much a part of a local church, (I usually attend twice on Sunday and every Wednesday night, and I am involved in helping with some projects) I just don't want to be idenified as belonging to a certain denomination. That's very different. People have preconceived notions as to what each denomination is about.

For instance, (baptists - believe in eternal security) (AG church was associated with Jim Jones and some infamous TV evangelists) (Catholics - believe in praying to saints) etc... etc...

I would rather be known as a Christian and not an extension of some denomination. For instance you said you were Lutheran (I attended a Lutheran private school when I was young and my preconceived notion would say "Lutherans believe in finding a demon under every chair" I now know that isn't true of all Lutheran Churches so I refrain from going there, but a few years back I might have.)

I agree with half of that. It would seem easier to swallow that man would cause war over greed rather than religion.
    Man: Flawed (capable/willing to manipulate)
Religion: cryptic ideas about peace and order (easily manipulated)
Seems easier that it would be man if you consider these definitions true
