Women are viewed as evil temptresses because we have the ability to control men with sex. Of course, some men are above that.

    The gay ones.

Many of the generations before also had fixed marriages so there was no choice but to end up with the first.

The reality of the world and society we live in is that its natural and expected for us to date many before finally settling down. But if we do date many and break up for whatever reasons, how can we be sure that the final one we pick is really "the one" we're supposed to be with for eternity ? We can't be. Nothing is certain. Monogamy is a personal choice.

Barring religion, we're all basically programmed or brainwashed by society to think / believe that we have to be with one person for the rest of our lives and if we don't want to be or are not, then there's something wrong with us. That's complete bullshit.

This is a very accurate description and I don't see how anyone could believe otherwise or think negatively on the poster here. However, I would say that religion would be a strong influence on the whole idea of monogamous relationships. Not so much on the aspect of reinforcing that as much as the purpose behind it. It's always been about property rights and further strengthened when [even secular] governments recognize marriages as well.

Is monogamous marriages/relationships doable? Absolutely, but it's foolish to think that your love and lust will be fully centered (and consistent) with that other person for decades to come. That sort of passionate companionship becomes a tolerant companionship as relationships age along with the people.

Of course it is. Everyone is wired differently. Yes more are probably better suited for non monogamous situations but there are those perfectly happy and with a preference for monogamy, they just have to find each other.

monogamous relationship... They are realistic and many are in them. As far as marriage goes... well, it's not always a financially sound decision. Even with a prenup the judge will base his opinion based on "what's fair". Not to mention that if you have children involved you will more than likely lose the house, your kids, and your money (especially if you have been married for 15 to 20 years). It's safer to not get married until things change. I suppose I could post memes with cute sayings about love and marriage, but the statistics speak a very different story (looking at who initiates most divorces, who receives alimony, who receives custody of the children etc.). I am all for monogamous relationships, but if you have any amount of wealth and I mean ANY (or the potential to attain wealth), considering how much extra work we must put in to achieve that wealth as Black Men, it's kind of naive to possibly throw it away because you assumed that you were always going to be/stay in love.
