Micheal Clarke Duncan and Jennifer Esposito flick coming soon They play lovers in the new rob schnieder movie out this summer or early fall.
Cool. But not that shocking to be honest. I love my girl Jennifer and she's worked with several dark-skin brothas in her career (Omar Epps, Don Cheadle, etc.) and no one seems to blink an eye that I can see.
I aint never seen the movie before so call me late, but did ya'll know that the movie hairspray one of it's focus's is on a IR couple. Don't know who is playin the IR couple though.
hairspray The white girl in the couple is played by Amanda Bynes. A lot of people on this board have said they like her. I posted about this a while ago. It should be fun.
I've always liked Jennifer Esposito for a long time. I think she's hot so it's all good. Whether this project will come alive is another thang entirely ......
not that shocking to be sure. Hollywood is happy to pair a BM and latino woman (which is so 'safe') but nearly always fall short of a WW with a BM. While I really liked the film Crash I would have preferred Cheadle's character was with an ango-american WW - now that would have been a good move IMHO.
Crash was an intense movie - I was crying when Thandie Newton was stuck in the SUV and wouldn't take Matt Dillon's hand... That movie really made me sit back and think - but it also made me feel kind of hopeless, like no matter what happens there is always going to be this awful, dirty, residue of racism covering everything.
I think it made a lot of people think. Racism will always exist unfortunately - although I will never fully understand WHY that is - but the point is not to give up hope. Until the planet thinks of 'one-ness' instead of 'mine-ness' (to quote Bob Randall) we will always be in this mess. We need to share the love and walk the talk. And more importantly, challenge racist thinking as well as racist-apathy. And really think about and challenge the media imagery that tells the planet that white is the best, white is the benchmark and white is beautiful. As WW and mothers, parents, teachers, nurturers, we are responsible for dismantling this myth. Not just basking in it and following 'role models' like Paris Hilton.
I am looking forward to seeing how this movie turns out. Jennifer is beautiful and I love the fact she's willing to go where few dare to go in Hollywood. Those guys playing opposite of her in these IR movies are really fortune to acquire the roles.
