I'm confused by what you don't understand right now. Maybe lost in translation?

And then you're shallow if you don't agree with their jacked up assessment lol

You guys are crazy. I don't have a single "ugly" friend. Not everyone is a 10 but I think there's beauty in most people (for some it's only until they open their mouth lol). I've dated men that I wasn't fully attracted to right off the bat. Hell, I married one :D I think personality weighs far heavier for women than it does for men. Maybe that's the disconnect here.

In the case of guys... Generally, the pretty face, nice body definitely captures our attention, but if she has a less than desirable personality... I'll will keep moving.

Like Blanche DuBois said in A Streetcar Named Desire, " After all, 20% of a woman's charm is illusion."

I have met attractive women over the years who were on the surface, beautiful. They worked hard to be that way. And a lot of times, they are holding themselves out for their male equal, in looks, that is. A lot of times over the years, I have met women who were not beautiful in the looks department, but they made up for that by looking cute. Cuteness goes a long way, imho. A woman can be cute and have a friendly and caring way about them. I have met women who were on a scale of 8 on the looks and an 11 on the scale of attitude. But despite these similarities, women want to be loved and they have their idea of what their prince will look and be like. I have met some women over the years who were major league teases and they would date a guy who is the opposite of the guy they want to date because they want to make that guy jealous. Does it last? Hard to say.

I recall a woman I worked with over 20 years ago who got herself on laxatives so she could look good for her boyfriend. She believed that her boyfriend was all that in a bag of potato chips squared and she was afraid of losing him to another woman. I told her that she was fine the way that she was. But, she wanted to keep her boyfriend.

Another woman I once worked with had a boyfriend who saw her only for sex. She had to go along because she didn't want to lose him, either.

I've heard and seen these dramas play out almost on a daily basis back then. And I had a ringside seat. I could listen to these women talk all day and after 10 minutes or more, I'd know what kind of guy these women are either looking for or dating.

These women want the same guy. They want the mystery, the pathos, the intrigue and adventure because they were living boring lives and they were young. They were not looking for a genuine guy; they were looking for a man that had some sort of status. Some quality that was like a wide chasm between them and other men, while at the same time, they were accessible to them.

For most guys, they don't have a snowball's chance in hell to date them seriously. So, these guys have to be something more than who they really are to win the woman. These men, in turn, become liars.

And apparently so do the women since they refuse to see the truth about their situations. Like I said modern technology is helping with that

To be honest... I have, especially in my younger days. Nowadays, I'd simply look to make a clean break quickly.

Back in the days(the 80's), the closest to social media was the telephone party line, newspaper singles ads, the dating services, free chat phones(where you could talk to a stranger about whatever is on your mind) and simple going out to a public place. Even though, the free chat lines were okay and it did help get some things that I had bothering me off my chest, I never got a date from them. Today, with the internet, we human beings can be whatever we want to be and we can have more than one persona. We could be a man or a woman. We can express multiple viewpoints. I had stated it a while ago; the internet and technology has done wonders for social media, but at the same time it has made us complacent. It is no surprise that it all can be used by men and women in this fashion.

I gotta admit, this is an interesting thread.

The first notable experience I have had in this regard was with a chick that was friends with my homeboy's girl - after constantly pushing her on me all night, I took her. She looked ok, but it was the hips & ass that got me (I was young).

Long story short, I fucked her over the course of about 2 weeks & threw her away. It was meant to be a tryst connection anyways.

But that was years ago. And honestly, the only "fix-ups" I've had through time (with a white girl) were always some variation of that theme.

How often has that happened to you guys?
