Media reports have said that her assailants beat her and inserted an iron rod into her body during the assault, resulting in severe organ damage.

There is no excuse for behavior like this. Those are some seriously fucked up assholes who don't deserve to breathe the same air as the rest of us.

In societies were men aren't raised to learn how to properly socialize with women, I think attacks like this are more likely to happen.
Cross caste rapes happen in India all the time, although I don't know if that was the case in this crime.
Although it sounds like it since the alleged assailants are supposedly from well to do families.

Sadism and sexual arousal. I don't get that.
I know it's a turn-on for many people in controlled scenes, but other than light spanking, hair pulling and grabbing hard on a woman's arms or legs, anything else is over the top for me.

The ONLY redeeming thing to have come out of all this is that it has emboldened the women of India to demand justice. I had read the marches were so adamant, that a visiting politician had to cxl due to the size of the protests upon their govt offices. That is unheard of! My hats off to the women of India for finally finding their voice of outrage. Now rape will be taken seriously and I hope these men are executed.

What about the assailants? Are they caught? The charges should be torture and attempted murder on top of rape, what about the bus driver that drove passed police checkpoints and never tried to report it or get the assault stopped by stopping at the checkpoints. He needs to get the penalty as much as the torturers/rapists, he aided them. Retract that, what he did was beyond aiding. Makes my heart cry.......

I think they caught the attackers. The cops will probably give them a good old fashioned beating in prison which is very common in India.

There has been such a huge a outrage that I'm sure they will get the death penalty.

The death penalty is given very rarely in India. The last person to get it was the mumbai terrotist guy who was hanged.

These guys are sickos. Don't know how you can just do something like that and go on about your day like its nothing.

 

If the victim was from a lower caste I don't think anything happens to her attackers other than jail time. There are just critical details that aren't being reported in this story.

The fact that the hospital said this woman died "peacefully" is truly fucked up. She died after enduring horrific pain and torture until her brain and body were so damaged they couldn't take anymore. Ya, sounds fucking peaceful.

I simply cannot wrap my head around how a group of individuals can engage in this kind of sadistic behavior and seem to have no compunctions about their actions toward the victims.

They beat up the boyfriend, gang raped the young woman and threw them from the bus, W.T.F.

I mean one would imagine there has to be some trigger in you saying this is fucked up to do to a woman.

The family is pushing for the death penalty but it sounds like the state might go for chemical castaration and 30 years in prison.
