The way to know if you're in the Deep South...is when the country twang of the black folks sounds exactly the same as the country twang of the white folks.

In the big cities...blacks have a southern accent but there's more of an "urban" element to it.....Far East Texas and Western Louisiana....the "urban" disappears. That's where all my relatives are from....there's some thick-ass accents down near the "Golden Triangle" too....Beaumont, Port Arthur, Houston, Baytown etc.
