Incest Has Nothing

to do with gay people marrying. Prohibiting incest has to do with prohibiting relatives in positions of authority (Dads, Moms, Uncles, Aunts, older siblings) taking advantage of relatives they have authority over.

If it were okay for them to marry then it would be a way to permit child molesting. When did Dad start having feelings that he wanted to marry his daughter? When she was 18 or 8?

As far as going against nature...well, I can think of a lot of things that go against nature. Anal sex, oral sex, cars, airplanes, computers, internet. None of those are from nature.

 

Interracial sexing is a choice, dammit, and I for one believe there should be a law against it!!!!:mrgreen:

FOr real though, gay marriage is about individual civil rights. If it's not illegal to be homosexual, by extension it should be illegal to prohibit them from getting married by the state.

People are stressing over maybe 5-10% of the general population, it's not like gay people getting married will be the end of Western civilization.

I'll put this thread to bed. It's really very simple, being gay is not a choice, just like being straight is not a choice (you are straight/bi/gay just because you are right). Straight and gay are on two opposit ends of a spectrum, you can't have one without the other, just like good and evil, up and down, etc., etc.

Incest is not the same thing, you may be talking about relationships in both cases, but the principles are different in each situation. You know what, I'll buy into the fact that maybe you can't help whom you love (maybe your smell technique is off lol), but you sure can choose not have sex with them, avoid them like the plague, there's a choice there (there is something to be said about people that can exercise restraint, in any situation).

It's so reFRESHing to meet a guy who thinks this way. This is one thing that I will not compromise on, I will not concede that we "see things differently" or that "this is just my opinion"... If you think being gay is a choice, you are wrong. This is absolutely 100% truth. You will never hear a gay person say that being gay is a choice they made. It's a part of who they are.

 

Yes. Whatever relationship two consenting adults have with one another is their business, it simply does not concern other people. The idea of actually throwing people in *jail* for having sex with their relatives is fucking unbelievable to me. Does the thought of banging one of my relatives disgust me? Yes, but something isn't unethical just because it's 'gross'.

Marriage as a legal institution should be abolished but, until it is, homosexuals, incestuous couples, polyamorous couples etc. deserve the same privileges that monogamous, heterosexual couples in 'normal' relationships have. I could expand but I'm in a hurry. I'll check this thread out later.

Edit : anyone who claims to be against eugenics can not use the argument that incest should be illegal on the basis of there being an increased risk of having children with a genetic defect. First of all, having a romantic relationship with someone and procreating are two different things. In this day and age, it's fairly easy to have sex without procreating thanks to condoms, birth control pills, vasectomies, morning after pills etc. Secondly, if sex between close relatives is made illegal (the idea of illegalizing consensual sex between adults is so fucking retarded) on the basis of wanting to prevent children with genetic defects from being born, sex between two people who share the sickle cell trait or the gene for Tay-Sachs disease or share the recessive gene for any other inherited disorder should also be illegal ( if I impregnated a woman with the sickle cell trait, our child would have a 50% chance of having sickle cell anemia). Even unrelated couples have a base 2% chance of having children with disorders. First cousins only have an additional 2-3% chance of having children with disorders. Personal disgust can not be the basis of what we consider to be immoral or what we make illegal.

Studies have actually shown that people are drawn towards others who resemble them. If daughters have a close relationship with their fathers, they tend to prefer men who smell like them. The only natural combatant we have to incest is the Westermark Effect. When small children are raised in close proximity with other people up until around the age 7, they tend to become sexually desensitized to those people later on in life. This doesn't just apply to biological relatives though, it just so happens that most people spend their early childhood with close relatives but you would have the same desensitization to adopted family members you were raised with.
