Wow. I didn't know that. I will have to look up your reference. Was that to prevent a mass uprising? Get blacks to hate each other so they wont turn against those who enslaved them?

What's funny is whether or not the papers are hoax illustrates that skin complexion debates are still a hot button topic even hundreds of years after Africans were brought to the Americas. Interesting shit. Seems like people will whatever bs reasons to be divided no matter how absurd.

I caught wind of the credibility of those papers when they kept popping up on sites geared towards 'Farakhan'

but nonetheless, one of the amazon reviews points you to a book about Napoleon in his efforts to divide and conquer haiti as well (something they say the Lynch papers were built upon). Where I grew up, darker blacks were called all kinds of names by whites. I was called names too, but they seemed to have variations in both frequency and type based upon your shade. I don't need papers, fictional or not, to teach me about what I already know. I leave that for the uninformed.

Real talk. The best divisionist tactic ever created by the owners.

Dark Knight pretty much answered your questions, however you ask if this issue exist outside America, well these commerical is a testament that the issue of skin color do exist outside America and beyond, eventhough their histories in regards to skin color is different, but it is still has a ugly outcome.

Colorism has no borders, in other words, it is not only a America issue, but it is a issue in many countries, some more while other countries it is less of a issue! Therefore, it depends!

Fair & Lovely has one of (if not THE) most disgusting marketing campaigns. They have it in Africa too and it disgusted me. The ads are pure racism.

I just have to weigh in re not being concerned about skin tone as a white woman. I do not like people who are NOT white women speaking for me, so:

As someone who does not tan well, and speaking on behalf of my Mother who is a red head and my friends who, like me, are pale - we absolutely do care about our skin tone. We spend hours sun-baking, solarium or fake tanning. We get teased for being pale. For getting burnt and for not having a tan. Oh, and the image of women that are considered most beautiful in the media is by a massive majority the women who have lovely tans.

Pale skin shows stretch marks, cellulite, uneven skin-tone, blemishes, veins etc to a much larger degree than tanned skin. It looks bruised when very cold. It gets red quickly when hot or when embarrassed.

So fuck yeh, I care about my skin tone and am VERY conscious of it and do a lot to have more colour. As does every single pale skinned friend of mine, bar one or two.
