Even I forgot all about the 40th anniversary on june 12th, but more importantly so did the rest of america...not even one of the biggest national media source on the web couldn't help that get out there only over 8,000 saw the commercial. But also that is all we got national wise a commercial unless someone could tell me where anybody showed any dedication towards it, I don't remember seeing any which is one of the reasons why I forgot about it.

And this was a case of black woman and white man IR....I guess recognizing that would also have to put them in a place to recognize black man and white woman IR and national and mainstream wouldn't dare do that.

I remember it. I just think it's something America would rather not talk about still unfortunately.

With all this crap going on with the hate crimes (particularly with the noose sightings), I forgot there is an anniversary of the Lovings having their marriage legal, and for the right reasons. A made-for-TV movie was made by Showtime about what they went through several years ago.

How could we forget about the Lovings? They fought back against everyone for the right to be married to eachother! That was only 40 yrs ago. I cannot imagine people invading my home in the middle of the night to take my husband and I to jail over being married and of different color. I would've done the same thing. Mildred Loving said they really messed up the made for tv movie and the only thing right is that they had 3 children. There is a lot going on racially now in the news, or lately at least, but I will never forget June 12, 1967. As a matter of fact, some people might think this is crazy, but I have designed a picture and had it matted and framed, it lists a number of IR couples and their court dates. Court dates where they helped make it legal for IR couples to marry, have children, be seen in public, even stay at a hotel together.
    I pulled this from LovingDay.com:
Even though I've known this, it still shocks me to read that only in 1998 and 2000 were some of these laws in some states gotten rid of?!?! That is why I feel that remembering these dates is important. :D As an IR couple and family, these dates are important in our house. Just as other dates/holidays are significant for others of different nationalities, these dates are significant for us.

I definitely agree too. This country can talk about democracy all it wants, it refuses to deal with its own racial problems which is sad. Dr. King's words still have an impact 40 years later.
