You see, the truth just sounds different. It's one thing to have had sex with a woman, it's quite another thing entirely when you have given your time, feelings, and resources into trying to make something meaningful.

I learned a lot from my ex-fiance. I had never been involved with a woman who demanded my attention. She told me that "I wasn't asleep, and that I was wide awake and aware." We had conversations about it - you know? Like, a lot of people that you encounter throughout the course of your life are not fully aware. You could be talking to them, but you can see how they are not fully capable of focusing upon a single moment. She discovered that I was, and she told me she "wanted to start a life with me."

We would talk all the time about how it is in a corporate setting when you have to be "on" - meaning, that you have to be wide-awake.

I didn't appreciate her as an amazing gift that I was blessed to be with. She wasn't a piece of meat. She was a person that I could have built a life with. She taught me a lot. We endured a lot of ugly stares and comments together. We broke up earlier this year because I screwed up. I've learned a lot.
