Please do not read thread if you don't believe racism exists.

How do you deal with the media/societal bias to make BM less attractive.

I notice a lot of subliminal programming in the media and amongst societal relationships when it comes to inter-racial dating and even in person.

I am tired of seeing W all day on TV, and when they show BM its in a negative context. I even see how it affect my WW, the conversation pivots, as if, now I am supposed to be subservient to her. Its a false sense of W superiority.

I think I need to turn off the TV.

I am tired of hearing W make random remarks on my conversation or in my presence. Their assessment of BM is so wrong...and I think it affect IR relationships...I really do. The WW starts repeating the words unconsciously/subconsciously.

How do yall deal, when there is negative information about each other in the media? Do you take a side? Do you sympathize? Or is it, us versus them mentality?

Date women who don't pay attention to US culture and you won't have to face this problem. Seriously though, the environment you immerse yourself in can make this either easy or difficult.

communication. talk about whatever issue it is. Openness is key to any relationship.

European white women are the most open interracially, I find! American white women are much more affected by racial stigma's than European women when it comes to dating outside racial lines.

I know this site is very US centric and that's cool. But honestly you guys both men and women need to "invade" the UK. You have no idea how stress free and common it is over here. We don't even call IR over here and never have. Just date and play with whom ever you want.

That being said its far too easy for me to say that as the history in both nations could not be any more different.

Caerdydd, there had been IR for centuries in the UK. Sure there was some prejudice in those years but, somehow it survives and thrives. That scene in the opening ceremonies of the Olympic games was fantastic.

Cardiff is but its no different to other UK cities, in fact I was recently in Torquay for the 2nd time and WW were more then open to BM. Norwich I have visited and that was the same. I still stand by what I said, Americans would have a field day dating us Brits. You Oz and Continental ladies are MORE than welcome too. :yawinkle:

Subtle racism is not something to be taken lightly but it is a place that is easier to make progress from IMO. Slavery, Jim Crow and all that is related to them wasn't just a Black holocaust, for the oppressors it was also a crime against their own humanity.

I'm looking to take a few trips out to London. I've been strongly considering the move for a few years now and its time I put things in progress and plan a method to making this happen soon. Should be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Sorry to throw cold water on your adventure but I don't think it's worth it. Arguably in some ways, London is actually worse with race relations than in America.

Plus we had the riot that occurred last year throughout London as well.
