Woman takes unique road to sue Honda over mileage A woman is California is utilizing the small claims court system to sue Honda Motors. She is unhappy that her hybrid vehicle failed to live up to company claims that it'd achieve 50 miles per gallon. She decided to pursue the small claims route, rather than join the class action suit in progress for the same issue, when she discovered that a successful suit would bring her $200. In the meantime, the attorneys would receive a fee of $8.5 million dollars. Heather Peters, the lady bringing the suit, has launched a website encouraging others to follow her lead. If all the litigants followed her lead Honda would face damage awards of $2 Billion dollars, without a multi-year protracted class action suit or the expensive lawyer fees. Honda will be disadvantaged in small claims court as lawyers are precluded from the proceedings, the judge has more latitude and procedural rules are more favorable.
