The Home Depot, based in Cobb County next to Atlanta, will open a new national customer support center in Kennesaw, also in Cobb County, next year, ultimately creating 700 jobs. http://www.11alive.com/news/article/211414/40/KENNESAW-Home-Depot-to-create-700-jobs Georgia Governor Nathan Deal announced the $24 million project on Wednesday. "The Home Depot is a great Georgia success story, and this announcement of significant job creation adds to the company's well-established track record of creating meaningful work opportunities for Georgians," Deal said in a statement. Hiring for the customer support center is expected to begin early in 2012. The center should be fully operational by late 2012. It will be constructed on a vacant lot in the Chastain Meadows office park, off of Chastain Rd. and I-575. It will open with more than 400 employees and the plans are to expand the operation to 700 employees by 2015. The Vinings-based company currently operates 90 stores in Georgia. It created 400 jobs in Lowndes County two years ago when it opened its Rapid Deployment Center in Lake Park, Ga.
