Good question. I'm out and about now, so I will reply when I'm home in a few hours. Expect a Harlem Globetrotters analogy. Basically it will be about taking a stance on race. We all do this as individuals whether we know it or not. The Hispanic rise is not a good thing for blacks in our current position. Whatever ones position, they have to acknowledge there will be an impact on the racial dynamic.

The non rich upper crest is the losing team. Just keep us fighting over a measly 60 percent while the top 5 percent laughs as it divides 40 percent of the wealth amongst themselves. And unfortunately minorites and poor whites refuse to wake up.

The top 1% are adept at manipulating the differences between the rest of us to keep us at one another's throats instead of theirs. Race, gender, class, sexual orientation - all of these things are tools of the top use to divide and conquer. If the other 99% would ever wake up and stop allowing those differences to divide us, the world would shift on its axis.

After all, the difference between a household income of 20,000 and one of 80,000 is not nearly as large a chasm as the difference between either and an income of 5 million.

I think the biggest problem is that poor and middle class people are too accessible to one another. So its easier to exact their rage on one another. Jealousy and greed kill any chance of us being together because we treat haves way better than have nots. Even if we are have nots ourselves. Paniro is the personification of people out there who hate people like themselves but love the people that are fucking them. Just sad.

I'm advocating waking the fuck up and look behind you to see who's actually fucking you in the ass instead of listening to what you're told.

I remember watching Making The Band and there was this Cuban chick who if you didn't know, looked Caucasian/White, but she was clear to check everyone and tell them she wasn't White.

It's hard when it comes to Hispanic and Latinos. My mothers family has some Spanish ancestry (1942) and they kept the language and some of the food dishes, but I remember a few family members asked if we were considered Latino cause of my mothers family name is Spanish and my mother corrected them and said no.

Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas don't look "White" to me and they're from Spain. I look at some Spaniards as a mix of European/Caucasian (locale) and Arab/Middle Eastern (also the locale).

I remember Charlie Sheen was on George Lopez and George called Charlie, Latino. Martin Sheen is half Spanish (not the term a lot of people from NY and Miami use when they call Dominicans and PR that).

Some people who also cross the perception that one should look like this or that from said area would be:

JJ Barea is PR and looks very "White". I don't see any African ancestry in him, but again, this is a most, not all type of example:

Then you have someone like Sofia Vergara. Is she considered White? I mean she said her hair is naturally Blonde.

Like you said, there are those who don't consider themselves White, yet they're not Black. They're not in one of the "oids" racial categories, but they surely have a race of people.

I know. :-( They've had centuries to perfect the technique, and the vast majority of people are too busy, or too dumb, or too apathetic to get it.

Which is exactly the opposite of Balkanization along race/class lines.

The Irish individuals, particularly those who migrated to Louisiana suffered immensely under slavery. While black slaves were regarded as on the value as cattle, Irish people were considered less than human by their white counterparts. This is what I'm referring to in regards to Louisiana's history. And New Orleans specifically has a strong Catholic tradition, thus your statement could be deemed moot.

Naturally, being from Boston originally, that's where my head went, and you're quite right that I hadn't taken Louisiana into account.

The Irish immigrants in Boston eventually ended up "on top" politically, along with the Italians, though the "real power" to this day remains with the Boston Blue Bloods.

    There's ALWAYS power in numbers.

Why the fuck do you think this country takes a census??

Voting districts nationwide are appropriated in no small part to the demographic breakdown of the population.
Small business loans, disaster aid, development and infrastructure project funding etc. often comes down to how many people of a specific background live in what part of the country and in how great a concentration.

Most importantly, Hispanics are screwing themselves in national elections if their numbers are perceived to be smaller than they are or in decline. You can't pander to a particular group for votes if their numbers don't matter.
