in this weeks jet magazine there was an interracial marriage annoucement. It was a wm and a bw. Im glad to see this because it is showing that america is evolving but I am wondering if there will be a fallout like it was when Reggie Bush dated Kim Kardashian and was on the cover of essence.

    You know the drill.

It's OK for a BW to love a WM.

It's not OK for a WW to love a BM.

I think we all know the answer to that. Hell No.

Black women tend to go silent when its a black woman and white man

The moment it is a black man and a white woman their mouths can't be kept quiet even though they "don't care" goes their claim. Yet they will utter some of the most ignorant and ridiculous commentaries about a black man dating interracially. How come black women who date interracially aren't self haters, weak sistas, sellouts, etc. You do the math.

It's sad that this is the case...

I'm glad that they are showing that marriage announcement. They should show more. Black women should be encouraged to date white men as well as men of any race they feel like dating, and vice versa. I personally wouldn't want any woman who categorically excludes an entire race or subset of men, just as I would not like to be fetishized. I just think it's lame.

And I agree with the posts about there being no issue like there was with Reggie Bush and the Essence cover. I think that's because it's presented through the male/power vs. women/powerlessness prism. Thus, Bush is rejecting (read: hurting) black women, while a black woman choosing a mate of another race is just seeking out love. I could be wrong, however. I think everyone should just confine themselves to focusing on who THEY'RE sleeping with, and keep their noses out of other people's bedrooms. Period.

Indeed, but it's all good. I'm still going to moonwalk and cut a rug down the wedding aisle, smiling ear to ear in about a year or so. I won't miss a beat. The haters can keep sipping on that salty/tangy stuff known as haterade while I'm off kissing my woman's lips that taste like milk and honey. :smt003

I think it has happened before. What I find funny is I was talking to this chick and she was talking about "black love is wonderful" but she excluded interracial marriage cuz "Its not fully black" so I guess it would be "Kinda black love"
