But not at this rate. Everything about this current generation screams pussy. Do you think corporations and government would have gotten away with taxing the hell out of people along with all that outsourcing? Never. This is the same country where people cried revolution when the British wanted to impose a 3 percent tax. Its a shame its come to this. We're a generation of lacksadasial let someone else handle it babies. So many times when I hear about suicide its always weak people who can't handle disappointments or who can't stand up for themselves. I'm not saying I haven't entertained the idea but actually doing just says so much about the current generation. If life isn't like a rap video its not worth living I guess.

I view suicide as an act of desperation. The depth of that person's pain or despair is so great that they simply don't know how else to escape it. They don't want to "feel" anymore. Generally speaking, I don't think a rational person commits suicide. I think it's a severely depressed person that commits suicide. And it's hard for me to consider an act brought on by a mental illness as being selfish.

Clearly you've never suffered from depression.

Sure have. I had a major episode this summer that lead me to quitting my job and going back to school. I just recognize my own weakness and I know that most of what I was and still am depressed about it are hugely based on material things and pleasing others. I'm still learning that life isn't all about living a perfect life where life is easy and filled with shit I don't need. I know its more about following my passions and treating others the way I want to be treated nothing less nothing more. So from my prospective we're usually depressed when we can't see past our egos and don't push ourselves to see beyond our obstacles.
    Just my two cents.

Maybe you should know that there is a big difference between "feeling depressed" and "suffering from depression".

Reasons why people suicide are too many... we could talk forever about that.
Basically it's because the person can't stand the frustrations that his/her life is putting her/him through.

So, of all the responses here.... who is right?

That's a ridiculous statement. Feeling depressed, suffering from depression, going through depression pretty much all the same thing. Are you a clinical pyschologist or a therapist or even a pyschiatrist perhaps?

We are all right in our ways. :)
Reasons for Sucide are many. U don't need to be clinically depressed to do it... but I guess that's the clearer profile. Somebody suicides from apparently nothing.... psychical sufference can hide well sometimes...

Exactly, some people do it because their finances have taken the best of them.
Some people do it because Harvard Law is too much for them.
Some people do it because they feel alone.

So many reasons for it and since the dead can't speak, I'm glad we have this expert panel to help clear things up.

that falls in the category: not having enough personal/environmental resources to cope with frustration.

It's a legitimate statement and there is a big difference between feeling depressed and clinical depression.

Suicide is a way of saying "It's too hard, I can't deal with it".

Fuck that. I tried, and the scar I left behind reminds me to this day why I'm still here fightin'. In one moment I lost a sense of myself and almost made a terrible mistake. I would have missed out on so much. I never would've met my Nate, because I let my ex husband drag me down so much I wanted to die. Without medical insurance the scar is even worse than it would've been, too. I never got stitches because I couldn't afford them, so the scar is wide, deep, and ugly. I think one day I might have it reopened so it can be closed properly, but I dunno.

I'd rather die happy than kill myself over being unhappy.

Oh boy another expert. What's your background again?

Actually that is something that I know about because of my background. It's a shame that you assume everyone here is ignorant. Believe it or not, there are real experts on this forum. And your cockiness doesn't make you intelligent, just rude.

Definitely. I've never been clinically depressed in my entire life. There's always been extraneous things causing me to be sad, though. But I will NOT take drugs (other than marijuana) to treat it because there's no need.

Clinical depression happens no matter what is or is not going on in your life. My roommate is clinically depressed and it kills me cause I don't know how to make her feel better -_- But there's nothing to do but hope her medication works. Marijuana helps her, too (I wanted her to try and see! I hate those meds she has to take) but it's unfeasible for her to walk around high all the time so she still has to take her pills. Whenever I can convince her I get her to smoke instead of take those dreadful pills, though, because they suck and i hate them soooo much. The only reason she mostly just takes them, tho, is that they last longer. -_-

I wish texas was like Cali, I'd get her on some thc pills or something. All the good things, none of the retarded side effects of zoloft.
