How on earth can he make the decision that the victim was "older than her chronological age"?? And that this victim had as much control as the teacher did?? Something is seriously wrong with this judge.

Rape culture in full effect in Big Sky country.

What were the grounds the judge cited for suspending this creep's 15 year prison sentence???

This is sickening. And even more so because the young child was so traumatized that she killed herself.

Montana would actually be a great place for George Zimmerman...he would fit right in...not because he is a rapist but because this is an NRA state...one of the most beautiful states in north America...unfortunately it is and always will be redneckland...these guys collect guns like some of you collect comic books

    Pretty much.

    Yep. This too.

This case makes me so, so angry. A 14-year old child - no matter how 'mature' - cannot consent to a sexual relationship with a 50-year old teacher. This man is a exploitative predator, he is not the victim here - Stacey was.

This sentence sends the message that it's okay for teachers to abuse their position of trust to sexually abuse children.

    Disgusting.

The judge is a fucking moron.

Sounds like he was engaged in some convenient male rationalizing.

A teacher gets off after a month in jail for raping a teenage girl. Because of this event, the girl commits suicide. And the judge believes that she was "old enough?" I find this sickening to the core. This guy should've gone to prison for the rest of his life. Or, the judge didn't think that was good enough for him. So this sick fuck gets a month in jail. There is something rotten in the State of Montana.

You vote GOP.....this is the type of Justice you get.

The GOP has made it clear they don't give 2 fucks about women, women getting raped, abortion and other issues dealing with women.

This verdict should not be a surprise.

For someone who screams from the rooftops that Americans should open their eyes and wake up you are quite lost on rape culture.

This is the continuous implementation of sharia law against women republican/GOP style.

Look I don't deny rape happens but I dont believe there is public acceptance of it on any level. Damn near all people in the Western world recognize how disgusting rape is. So when you say rape culture as it applies to the GOP sorry I don't agree.
I really don't believe that it's the Republican stance that raping a 14 year old girl bevrone.shitty judge thought it was.

That judge responded on the web and apologized. Too little too late.

Judges are really getting out of hand. I mean, it's one thing when juries come back with fucked up verdicts, but it's really dangerous when judges act like kings and queens and decide who should be punished or not. They have too much unchecked, unscrutinized power, imho

Wonder how many other fucked up decisions this judge has made

Judges are either elected by the people or selected by politicians depending on the court they are on and state.

Montana is a GOP Tea Party state. The Judge is a representation of the people.
