Hello! My name is Jenn, I'm from New York! I'm 26 years old. I'm 5'4 Brunette who loves singing, reading, laughing, dancing, learning and having fun. I am also in love with my boyfriend, ex marine Frank for the past 6 years. He is from Trinidad and I am Puerto Rican/ Italian/ Irish. Frank is my first black relationship, and he makes me the happiest and best person I can be. He is the love of my life. I can't say our relationship has been all rainbows, my parents did not want us together simply because he is black, saying things to me I never, ever thought I would hear coming out of their mouths...very hurtful, but to me....I see Frank, not tall, not brown eyed, brown haired, not black...I see Frank, the man of my dreams. I don't know why others can't see him the way I do.
Well welcome to the forums and you came to the right place for lack of better intro. It's unfortunate that, in 2012, we still have people exercising a great of prejudices, which is ironic given you are of mixed background yourself. But, a clear reminder is that you're far from alone in this whole story called life, and that's why we're all here to ensure that you have a place here.
Welcome! So glad you are here. For the most part, everyone is supportive of each other and just enjoy having a place to be ourselves and be honest with our attractions.
Well welcome to the forum my fellow New Yorker. Shame about your parents behavior but quite a few here could attest to that reality when it comes to white women getting involved with black men. Its often deeply rooted in ignorance and prejudice but if he respects you and treats you right then that is all you can ask for.
Sorry your parents treat you this way because of your boyfriend's color. Had they realized this is New York and not the suburbs?
Thank you! Thank you all for the kind words...I feel as though this will be a very good place for me I have enjoyed reading all the posts and feel intrigued by many! My boyfriend really is truely amazing. I am blessed to have his love.
