'Heading South' (Vers le sud)

There's a new movie generating some buzz on the arthouse movie circuit particularly New York. The story is about WW aged 60-70 yrs, who went to Haiti during the reign of 'Baby Doc' Duvalier, for the purpose of having sex -- for money, gifts, ect. -- with young Haitian boyz.

Now....I have no doubt that this has happened (prolly still is happening)...but, it very rare that men of color would be hooking up with WW in their 60s and 70s. It's far more likely that the young brothas livin' in developing countries (read: poor countries) would be smashing young WW. Particularly, the 'backpacker' set from Europe.

You know, the thought of black men even kissing a white woman older than 40 is quite worrying. I never knew some of them could be quite stupid to do such a thing.

I saw a article on it in the Sunday New York Times.

 

I recognize the ww in the black swimsuit holding the camera. She was on this french/english flick called "Swimming Pool." She played a writer sent out into the country side by her publisher to write a book. He lent her his summer house and told her his daughter would be living there. Well, his daughter showed and man, it was this little gorgeous french philly who looked a little like Anna Kournikova!

To make a long story short, is was a yawner with this exception of some swimsuit shots from the girl as well as nudity, even from the older woman. I guess the Europeans have an easier time dong these nudity, IR type flicks, huh?

 

America is the most hypocritical country in the world! Showing sex & nudity on-screen is bad, but showing gratuitous violence & killing is OK.

Remember the furor that Janet Jackson's nipple slip on the Super Bowl half-time show stirred in the US!!?? America has attacked, invaded & occupied a country in the Middle East -- Iraq -- for no apparent reason than its former dictator stopped doing what the 'regime in Washington' wanted him to do....that, and America wants an uninterruped flow of oil from Iraq, as well as to establish strategic military bases there.

Kid you are right. According to the article I had read in the Sunday NYT one of the older women who watched it said she was disapointed that there is not much sex. I got to see it to believe it. I hope the movie is deeper than Save the Last Dance. As for Monster's Ball not in my lifetime would I see a scene of the BM/WW version Barry and Thorton in a IR movie in the US.

Also, many of my black guy friends admit that they've lost interest in Halle because of that scene. guess that was a bad move on her part. . I guess hollywood/mainstream america think differently.

If Hollywood is not giving us what we desire, then we can create and distribute our own. First, there was Hollywood, the major music studios, corporate game companies, and book publishing companies. Then as costs lowered, the indie movement (which does better at addressing our wants and needs) began to emerge in all endeavors, with indie gaming being the newest indie industry. Now, with costs lowered by widespread IT, we will see the start of DIY media, and are starting to see it today. ATR is a nice podcast (online talk radio) for those interested in interracial, multiracial, and transracial issues, and MMW is a nice blog. People can create and are creating DIY movies, music, software, books, and games.
