Some more meat on the bones of a previously posted theory that HBO didn't want GRRM to release "The Winds of Winter" because of a major plot divergence reveal in the source material . . . Queen Daenerys' "brother" Prince Viserys has been in a Witness Protection program for well over a decade:

Instead of Doran being the duped one, the Targaryan loyalisty waiting for Ilyrio to rally the GC (when Viserys could not!) to the "Targaryan" before calling his swords to the boy he believes to be his nephew, now Varys is the duped one. Because, by weakening Westeros before committing Blackfyre loyalists at a moment when westeros is divided, it is Varys' Blackfyre forces sticking their neck on the line. Without Varys, Doran was stuck to take on Robert's armies, or the Tyrells and Lannisters- alone. With Varys' plot, he can let Aegon take all the risks, and ally the Blackfyres in the vacuum of power Varys will have engineered.

From there, Doran can use Arianne to reveal Aegon's true identity. If she has been told of some trait- some eye colour, some freckle or birthmark that his nephew would possess, and knows already that Aegon is fake, then this is quintessential foot dragging, setting Arianne out on a mission she has no idea she will fail on, in the same way he allowed Arianne to get Myrcella half way to Hellholt before rumbling her through Darkstar's intel. This would turn the whole battle for power into another Dance of the Dragons- an imposter, posing as Aegon, having taken risks fighting Tyrells and Stormlords and weakneing his armies, being revealed by Arianne, and Doran choosing this moment to reveal Viserys and win over all the former Targaryan loyalists as Blackfyre / Targaryan divisions are reestablished- to which the Targaryans presumbly have much more support . He who laughs last, laughs loudest, as it were, and this is the reason, IMO, behind Doran's patience- his knowledge of Aegon, his knowledge of his Blackfyre origins, and his secret knowledge that Viserys is still alive.

Here is the hyperlink to the argument being raised that Prince Doran knew all along that the real heir to the Iron Throne ~ Prince Viserys Targaryen was in his constructive custody and not some "Beggar King" traveling the free cities of Essos for 17 years . . . scrambling and fleeing all the while from King Robert's hired daggers!!: https://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?/topic/112760-viserys-darkstar-and-dorans-game-a-theory/

Game of Thrones Prequel Starts Filming
    06192019

Filming has quietly begun on the untitled follow-up to HBO’s fantasy sensation, which is shooting a pilot this summer in hopes for a series order.

The shooting location is a familiar one: Northern Ireland, which served as the production of hub for GoT during its entire run. It’s not yet clear if the prequel will also shoot in other countries as well.

The GoT prequel is from showrunner Jane Goldman (X-Men: First Class) along with author George R.R. Martin and director S.J. Clarkson (Jessica Jones). The story is set thousands of years (roughly 5,000, according to Martin) before the events in GoT.

One of the actors from the Netflix smash hit series "When They see Us" is cast in this. I recognized him (Marquis) as the young 7th grade Raymond . . . his absence from the follow up Oprah special was probably because he has been doing this Game of Thrones pilot in Europe.

When HBO had Sansa kill Ramsey I instantly felt they ruined Theon's storyline. I just for the life of me couldn't see what purpose he had going forward. AThen HBO had a golden opportunity in "The Long Night" to allow Theon to be the hero of Winter fell and kill the NK . . .but they gave that honor to Sansa's sister (SMDH)

"BloodMoon" is the tentative HBO title for its ASOIAF prequel about the Long Night and Age of Heroes . . . but GRRM has staunchly contended that there are three other proposals of his that HBO has purchased with plans to produce in the future. Go to YouTube and search "Empire of Ash" which focuses of the Doom of Valyrian Empire which is like Fantasy Roman Empire with hundreds of dragon lords.

"The Dragon Demands" has even made a good trailer for it and various videos about why it is the superior choice of all the HBO options presented last year though obviously it would be financially formidable.

Sorry I cannot provide hyperlinks with this phone :) but "Empire of Ash" looks lit!!

Multiple online sources state (Rawrist and Smokescreen) that HBO's "Bloodmoon" has been CANCELLED!!
The hardcore fans are ecstatic and overjoyed because they weren't really excited about this prequel choice from among the five that GRRM submitted for AT&T's approval.

We are not going to get the Naomi Watts led series next year or next decade it seems but hopefully they ultimately greenlight "Fire & Blood" and "Empire of Ash" which have the heartfelt passionate support of the ASOIAF faithful.
