Some do. Others want more of a commitment. You just have to find the person that's looking for the same thing you are.

you think before people love each other and been happy in a marrige more than it is now? not really most of the women stay in a marrige before even they knew they husband cheat or any other reason may be...

anyway i dont believe in love this is stupid

love is not out the window...for lippy it is always just right around the corner...i don't believe there is only one love...or a love of your life...i think you can love more than one...hopefully one at a time...in order to find love or have love find you...you must be open to receiving it...a closed off heart can't love another or receive love

Told the wife the other day if the love should ever diminish between us and we should ever go our separate way I will never, never, never marry again. In this country marriage is a dying institution. I see the trends all around me.

It's sad what marriage has become. I wish more people would invest more wisely in relationships, then we'd have a better chance at long lasting marriages.

I hope your marriage goes the distance....

The problem is that marriage is an institution. Its not a spiritual union anymore.

Yet despite the fact that many people share your view on marriage Andrae, they still seek it out like it's the Holy Grail. That's what confuses me. If you have no faith in marriage, or you don't view it as a spiritual, love based union, then why bother at all? You see tons of books and articles on how to find a partner, how to keep a partner, how to settle when you can't find the 'perfect partner'... if people would just learn to be happy with themselves and not feel like they had to have someone in their life to complete them, they wouldn't need all the advice. Be happy with you, the rest will fall into place on its own.

I find this article is very close to my view as to what it takes to have a happy marriage.

As someone who has been blessed to be married for almost 19 years to my wonderful, amazing, lovely wife, I can assure you marriage as a whole is NOT a modern day mockery.

Congrats on your longevity Loki. I love hearing that!

I've stated in a thread or two that my parents are going on 55 yrs and my sister is on her 29th year of marriage. I aspire to be like all of yawl. If it doesn't happen, that's okay too...lol
