Most of us enjoying the fruit of his hard labor and the freedom fighters like him. We are getting lots of opportunity to explore our potentials because of leaders like him. The man took a bullet for a great cause, even with some of his personal shortcomings he was a great man. Happy BD MLK!
I dunno if its happy birthday. But I appreciate all you did and all you stood for. Shame your life was taken. I would have loved to see what else you could have accomplished. Such a terrible loss:-(
Please take a few moments today to remember the work of one of the greatest Americans who forced our country to begin to live up to the promises that it stands for. He is dream gets closer to reality despite its setbacks that many of us see and live with.
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Every time that I read this quote, it saddens me. There is so much truth in his words, and they still apply today. We need to still be fighting for his dream and not silently standing by as we watch injustices occur to our fellow man. God rest his soul.

Great quote girlie. It makes you think about how you live your life and if you can live with avoiding getting involved. My dad always said if you stand by idle and silent when things are wrong, then you are in effect agreeing. Happy Birthday MLK.
Sorry Bama is kool and all but I dont know if I am gonna equate him with Dr. King tho. Please post freedom figthers like Malcolm X, Mandela, Tutu or any other fighters, Thanx.
First off let's keep it real Dr. King didn't do it alone. It annoys me how we always elevate one person without recognition of the many that made his work possible. Dr. King to me is a symbol just as Obama and Mandela are symbols and incredible speakers. They inspire us and for better or worst Obama falls into that category for me.
Noone said Dr. King did it alone, but he was in completely different era and did not have >700 million dollars campaign fund to fight for your black ass so today you can attend prestigious school in New york. Now you equating Obama to Mandela, good lord drae, Mandela spent fucken 27 years in torture. Obama spent many of his youth licking the door of Ivy legaue institution, get real.
Dude all I'm saying for me as an individual Obama is inspiring and without King there wouldn't have been an Obama. Just paying homage fam.
All I am saying is-am I happy we have a blk president (Obama), yes. Is he doing an oaky job-maybe. Are we gonna see another blk president anytime soon, not until you're in the nursing home playing bingo. Obama aint no freedom fighter, he is just a slick politician who took advantage of the opportunity that was around him. As Dr. Wright said, politician will do and say anything for reason of elcetability.
In spirit Happy Birthday Dr. King for being that single beacon of hope in a time of true darkness. I thank you for my parents who were active in the civil rights movement of that time. Most of all thank you for saying the following that my older brothers lived by in your time. "It's not burn baby burn, but learn baby learn, so that you can earn baby earn". - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
