    I think cosplay is about the love of the character one is playing. Race, sex or shape doesn't affect it all that much. Purists will say that a character is built a certain way and must stay that way, but if you love the character you are portraying, it doesn't matter. I had seen some cosplayers at a comic book convention. I could tell which were store bought phonies and which were real. I had seen a guy dressed up as a soldier from the anime Full Metal Alchemist. His costume was homemade and was very detailed. Like some of the others, I saw the attention to detail that he put into it. I like that in cosplayers. The guy was right about athletic uniforms; that is not cosplay.
