But back on topic, I'm personally pleased that it was a break and not a permanent exit for Andrae, I missed him on here. I encounter very few people who will just tell you what they think, bluntly, without trying to make it sound PC and acceptable, and then refuse to back down when questioned... and I love that about him.

 

I love to be able to point you in the direction of her worst threads but they were deleted by Webs, basicaly because we didn't piss sunshine and rainbows in her direction, for the life of me I can't remember her name it was a while ago.
LS might remember or LA she was funny in her sadness, cruel but true!

And as to you being glad that Andrae is still here, fair enough but "I'm leaving" threads are 2 a penny on here and it starts to grate, although the boooooing and raaaaaaing can sometimes be amusing.

I hear you Francie, personally I'd just disappear because I don't like to call attention to myself. However, I think some people think it's polite to say something rather than have people wonder where they went.

As for sunshine and rainbows, I think it's great to get along with folks, and I do strive to be polite, but honestly when everyone works to be PC I think it's less productive than if you just say what you're thinking. I like people like you and Andrae who say what you think, instead of what you think people want to hear. That's what makes WWBM enjoyable to me.

Arhh thanks, I like to see a bit of controversy to, makes things a bit lively, although I do draw the limit on people who are just Obtuse by contradicting just for the sake of it, I'm a big fan of Independent thinkers as long as they're not dangerous!

I like differing points of view as well, it makes me think sometimes and reconsider my position, which is always nice. I actually don't mind people who just like to argue for the sake of arguing, they're amusing at times, but I don't like it when people become so emotional they can't make sense of anything. Once objectivity is lost, the whole discussion becomes pointless... that's usually about the time someone calls someone else something really unacceptable and then it's really pointless to continue. That's about the only thing I object to is people who can't just agree to disagree politely, they have to belittle the other party, or be hateful, and it's just rarely necessary. Some people run a little more hot blooded than others, which is fine, being passionate about something is great, being passionate to the point that you can't participate without calling someone something hateful gets old fast.

On the subject of obtuse people, I get told fairly frequently that I'm being obtuse... but honestly I don't realize that I am, sometimes I'm just thick, but it's never intentional. I also don't notice I'm doing it until it gets pointed out, so maybe other people aren't doing it on purpose either... they're just slow like me. LOL!

 

I know this hard to believe, me being a docile kitten an all.... but I hear that alot too (hand to mouth :???: shocking!) although not usually described as nicely as obtuse. I shall continue to be what I am, which is whatever someone percieves me to be and not be overly fussed, way I see it I'm past the point of overly mincing phrases for someones comfort.
I do love a good joke, pundit or a bit of dry humour, I like to have a laugh when I say something non comformist softens the blow somewhat imo :smt014

And as to dangerous I mean the age old Independent thinkers that get a bit carried away and turn it into a personal vendetta rather than a convo (like what you mean really) or those that alienate themselves from social interaction, I'm glad to say regardless of my views I'm relatively well liked among my peers.
Oh and also not dangerous in any way!

 

Well IMO there's a huge difference between being rude, and stating your opinion and sticking to it... I like to think I do the later... but that may be the obtuse me speaking. LOL!

In general, I'm not dumbing it down anymore, and I'm not going to strive for perfect PC either. If people don't like me as is, they don't have to talk to me, and I'm fine with that.

 

I believe the poster's name was SweetAngel. And yeah, she threatened to call the FBI on us. So ridiculous. I can't remember why though. I do think it had something to do with people not agreeing with a post she made.
