I thought I would start a thread for people who want to celebrate the good in 2020. What I mean by this is: how did 2020 help you? Were you given time to learn a new skill? Did you figure out you can actually cook and not have to go out as often for food? Did you find a hobby that brought you joy during this ridiculous year? Were you able to save a ton of money because you couldn't spend it on frivolous things like movies, etc? For me, Kpop played a huge role in bringing me happiness this year. My daughter and I were just BTS fans at the beginning of this year, and when the lockdown happened and we had nowhere to go and nothing to do, we started listening to kpop YouTube suggestions and we found a ton of bands we now "stan". We went from one Kpop group to fifteen. LOL. And they all put out new music this year and it's all been so good. In fact, so many artists put out good music this year (not just kpop). I've always been more of a movie person than a music person, but since movies have been severely limited this year, music has become my go-to for joy. What new thing has brought you joy this year??
So many new changes have occurred in life. Much more that I could anticipate. From a new career path that has opened so many doors for me, to a newfound romance to spark the weary heart, this brief yet immensely moving moments really flooded me with joy, despite the ongoing obstacles which plagues me still. However, I am not lost in despair, because I no longer swim in the abyss.
I'll stay away from the obvious huge one, but... My employer who remained flexible in difficult times, and took a few necessary steps to "spread the pain" a bit, but avoided mass layoffs. At the same time actively monitoring the status of the pandemic and adjusting as necessary to keep the campus community as safe as possible. Also...working from home provided me with lots of extra time in which I was able to get back to decent physical shape.
Yes, it did. I neglected to mention that at the start... I did managed to gain about 10 pounds, then I went went force on losing that 10 plus nearly 15 more pounds.
