I think that you have missed my point. Empathy towards others does not require that one experiences the exact same things. I will never know how it feels to be an Australian aborigine woman or a Tibetan man or a Peruvian child or Nigerian oil tycoon or a POW in a military prison camp however I am capable of having a general understanding of the overall emotions involved as a part of the human experience which allows me to empathize or relate with their respective joy or pain or suffering or triumph.

Have you ever watched a foreign film and were so connected to the story and the characters that the subtitles became nearly irrelevant? Our ability to empathize and have connections with other humans transcends race/color/culture/national origin/religion.

Not every person has to be invited to everything. Not everybody I meet gets invited to my birthday party or my wedding or even my funeral. Doesn't mean I "hate" those people, just means that the event is not geared towards their inclusion or they are not on my inner circle.
