so, i just saw on the news here (tampa bay area), that this woman was sitting in her house and heard this huge crash from the other room. she went in her kitchen to find an alligator that had broken through her screen and come in her back door. turns out it was 8'8" and weighed 230lbs. gotta love florida!!
Seriously, if you lived here in South Florida, such occurences would be old news. For real, we get some of the weirdest shit winding up near us in this area. One time, it was an antelope in some dude's living room. That's why my family don't like coming down here to visit me. They say its too scary coz of the weird reptiles and the likeliness of natural disasters.
i know, it's craziness. i grew up in the north-central part of FL, but have been down near tampa for the past 5 years. i don't think i could live in miami....visiting is one thing, but it's like a whole other world down there. with the crazy wildlife and the people, haha.
Remember you heard it hear first...Our (floridians) next big nuisance is going to be giant constrictors (boas and anacondas). They are taking over the everglades (did you see the picture of the gator that exploded out of the side of the snake?) and their breeding with other species of snakes is out of control. They will continue to be ignored until something VERY unfortunate happens. Mark my words!
you are so right! people get these giant snakes, and then decide they don't want them, so they just turn them lose - stupid!! that happens more in the southern part of the state....glad i'm moving toward the top!!
well, i'm in lakeland (only for another week), i've been down here for 5 years, and it's been nice. it's about 25-30min from tampa and about 45min from orlando. it's pretty IR friendly, they have a nice historic district (little more expensive), and they are slowly growing. unfortunately, the job market sucks - that's why we're moving. i have a bachelor's degree, and have been out of work since november. i have looked everywhere for a job!!!....unless you're in medicine, have a teaching certificate, or are into retail you don't have many options unless burger-flipping is what you wanna do. i'm not hatin' on the burger people though, b/c i gotta love me some what-a-burger every once in awhile, but you get what i'm sayin. but alot of people in L-town commute to tampa for work....if you don't mind the drive, than you're set. hope that helps.
